While the motor is out, I'm thinking of repainting it, however, where can I get replacement 1992 164 decals for all of the emission information and whatnot?

Cheers!

I sent all that data to guy who makes and sells decals on eBay but he has not yet indicated to me he has them reproduced. He sells decals he says are for 164 but set incomplete and not correct for 164. Each year is a bit different as B/L models engine data decals are different than S models as are 24v models. B/L engine decals in yellow and S in orange.

I think this is their web site. I just emailed him again asking if he ever got set made from my samples I sent him.

If someone has stellar examples, I could get some made. I have been wanting to get all the factory stickers as well. Mine are worn or non-existant since I bought mine in FL , I have no smog stickers.

I do have a hood sticker for oil type and so forth for a 12V and 24V. Trying to find more, especially the M.Y 91,92,93 stickers.

CIao!

I am a graphic designer by trade, so I can recreate the artwork if anybody wants to have some of these made, I can create an Illustrator file that can be sent to a sticker maker if anybody has a lead on a vendor that can produce these. I used to design the decals for Litespeed/Merlin/Tomac/Quintana Roo bicycles, but I'm no longer in that gig. I have just never worried about the stickers under my hood, but I am certainly not surprised that there are many that would like to freshen these up. ;) If anybody has some not stuck to their car, they can send them to me and I will recreate them and send you an ai file. Alfa won't come after me, will they? ;)

We will have to get this ball roll'n if you all are serious about having some made. They will be a piece of cake to replicate. We will need to make a list of the needed decals, where they go and which ones are different on the various year 164s. I think my car is missing a few, now that I have looked under my hood to look at them. If you have a decal, send me a pm and I will give you my address to send it to me, so I can recreate the art.

OK, anything new with this? It looks like I am well on my way to getting my 164LS near concourse (eventually!).

There is one big sticker I am missing.
It’s the long narrow one that goes on the radiator "support" on top front of the engine bay (see below). If someone has a good digital pic of theirs, and the dimensions, we perhaps can get it reproduced.
Thanks
Sam

PS: This is not my car, just a pic I found.

Some advice I got on how to do this:

vector it in illustrator would be the best ... you need to take picts from above to start - head on .. then you rebuild the whole sticker in illustrator .. for someone that is good at it, it is doable ... then ya need to color correct while looking at the actual sticker

Yes, most screen printers like Illustrator files for decals. I normally use Freehand though and then convert to Illustrator before sending to the printer, I just prefer it over Illustrator, old habits die hard. Apparently all these Catalyst decals have a different barcode on them? Omit that, just use one? Should I fix typos? :) Someone shoot a good pic of a '94 catalyst decal, please.

Interesting photo

Good thing it wasn;t copyrighted! The car that sticker is attached to looks like a real POS!

EVERY SINGLE one I have ever seen (and I have three cars myself, the one that Sam posted, two others I have asked about) ALL have the right side crumpled up like that. Is concourse quality with the crumple or without?

It's from sweaty, hairy Italian mechanics kneeling on the front crossmember so they can reach up behind the rear head. I know this to be fact, I have done it, seen it and am one of them.

I have 91 and 92. I take digitals of. They are in pretty good shape just peeling up on the edges. I will try very soon to get to it. I may have a 94, I have a hood sticker with oil spec in ok condition that I have scanned.

I will do more later. This one has not been touched obviously
Image

I will remove or photograph 91/92 and maybe 94/95 when I get one in.

EDIT: Sorry STEVE missed that PDF.

What I really want is the engine sticker in upper left corner of engine compartment by the brake fluid container that has where the car is made. Mine is toast from brake fluid.

Anyone got a good one to photo?

AR164 1992 164S decals

I have this one set of new M.Y. 92 164S decals all new and unused except the one copy I inserted of pulley and belt running.

Maybe Chazzy can use these to make up more 164S decals in orange for 91-92-93 models and then make up yellow decals for 91-92-93 B/L models with slight changes in engine codes and years but leave the bar code the same.

All the other decals except yellow spark plug one are used on most all 91-95 models.

Once Chazzy has correct size templates from these decals changing the numbers and color may not be a big deal to make 94-95 decals.

Does anybody have a 24v Q model that could confirm if engine decals are orange like S or yellow like LS?

I notice corner of decal in Goat's picture for vac hoses is a white background so we need a picture of that too.

See my pdf attachment.

Thanks for that pdf Steve. Jason, that is exactly the kind of image I need to do these well.

decal list
1-catalyst - 3 color - year specific
2-caution, lightening bolt - 3 color - all years
3-belt danger - 3 color - all
4-coolant danger - 3 color - all
5-platinum plug - 2 color - year specific, model specific?
6-vacuum hose routing - 2 color - year specific, model specific?
7-plastic handle warning - 3 color - all
8-airbag warning decal - 3 color - all
9-AR advised fluids - 2 color - year specific, model specific?
10-AR genuine parts - 3 color - all
11--40/-40 - 2 color - all
12-premium fuel - 2 color - all
13-ten year airbag - 2 color - all
14-danger gas in pressure - 3 color - all

Please check my list and the cars they go on, feedback needed. This is a large investment in decals, BTW, if screen printed in a high quality. Are the decals from the fellow in Florida nice? Maybe we just need the catalyst decal made and the rest could be sourced from him? One could easily have $1,000 wrapped up in making a few hundred complete sets of these. Printing isn't cheap these days, I know because I work at one, but we don't do screen printing, unfortunately.

Color matching

Hi Chaz

I have an old Pantone book that I can use for the color match-- prob not perfect but ought to be close enuf do you think?

The catalyst background was 109 C (yellow)

Do you want me to try to match colors on all decals?

Jason-- the right side crumple was the cat sticker-- If I was a mechanic I'd stand right in front of the car and apply the thing! Seriously-- I have seen 7 or 8 cars and they are all crumpled up on the right side (the cat sticker)

Bob, Oh yeah. I know. LOL
I will try to get more scans like this if it will help chazzy.

I've already recreated the cat sticker, took about an hour last night in InDesign. I will convert it to an Illustrator eps file for anyone who wants to have some printed. Just send me an email.
Bob, my car is "decal poor" so Pantone matches would be helpful.
Jason, you have some dimensions on that decal?
Notice the word "CONFORM" on the actual decal, is correctly written as "CONFORMS" on the image of the decal in the manual (like Steve posted earlier), also in the third segment at the bottom, the type is moved over some to the right on the actual decal than the placement that is more lined up on the left in the manual's image of the decal. Do we want it to say "CONFORMS" as it should be or "CONFORM" as it actually is on the decal. I have the type as the actual decal at the moment. The decals with multiple hyphenated words in a row, crack me up! I wish I had typeset them originally, they would have looked better. :)

Charles: I got your most recent PDF file. Looks perfect. Thanks.
I sent it to my friend to see what he can do with it. Also sent to classic car biz, though from what I hear he is hard to get a hold of. I am tempted to..if all else fails..print on heavy gloss photo paper and glue it on.

With only 357 '94s and 414 '95s sold in the U.S.A., it won't make good business since for him to make these, so I doubt he would do it, and I don't know if he is a printer. I think someone that owns an LS, is going to have to have these printed up and be the source for these catalyst decals at least. The others will not be so rare. There are screen printers online with online quote forms to get prices, if you don't have a local screen printer, files can be emailed to a printer anywhere in the U.S. Printing gets cheaper the more you print, but nobody would be able to get rid of 250 decals considering the rarity of these cars, more like 50 total max of '94s and '95s which will make this more expensive. I have a screen printer I used to use for decals if anyone wants their information, PM me and I will tell you who they are. From '90-'93 many of these cars (in the U.S.A.) are M.Y. '91s so those decals would be cheaper to produce in larger numbers and easier to find folks who want them. Probably 5 or 6,000 M.Y. '91s sold in U.S., since many sold in '92 and '93 were actually M.Y. '91s?

See above...anyone?
Also, I sent out the PDF file Charles sent me to 5 printing vendors. At least 3 claim on their website to do custom small orders. Even if it cost 150 for 100, if there are even 3 of us that want them we can split that...maybe? ;)

I will let you know what responses I get.

OK, got one guy.
$27.89 for 25!
Just gotta clarify that they will be yellow.

"Hi Sam,

We can print these stickers for you, our minimum is 25:

10.625" x 1.75" = 18.59 sq. inches x .06 x 25 qty. = $27.89

18.59 x .05 x 100 qty. = $92.95

These stickers will be printed on a durable high gloss white vinyl.

Thanks"

Clean Kinko copies of decals

Chazzy,

Today I made good clean bold copies at Kinko's of the M.Y. Catalyst and Vac Hose and Tune Up decals data info from the 91, 94; 95 shop manuals.

Also recopied all the 14 actual new decals I had from that 92 164S set of decals in living color.

I will try to get them in the mail to you tomorrow.
