Maybe I miss labeled the photo. Doubt I can check but will try.

I reviewed my files and found no way for me to check when the photo was published in AROC Magazine but I probably miss labeled it. So could be 1977???

Sorry

are you willing to sale?
Hi the car is not for sale and it doesn't belong to Takis, i saw it a couple years back, it is in a heavy private collection and the owner doesn't drive it unfortunately!

For obsiouvly reasons i can't post some pictures but if someone has the GTA Alleggerita Book by Maurizio Tabucchi can help you, but the car has changed a little since then i have to say!

For sure it is a unique GTAm but some things that car has i didn't like it!

I have a archive of Original/Genuine GTAm's nothing too special and fancy but i want so badly to see the museo storico GTAm because that car for me it is the perfection, i also have saw the other Original/Genuine GTAm that we have in Greece the G.Moschous car but i don't like white GTAm's!

King Regards
George

Hi Ken,

No problem!
I'll check with Adrian Bertorelli (son of the owner) to see if he can retrieve the article in the AROC magazine. See facebook for his pictures of both cars.

Thanks for the feed back!

Ciao, Olaf 👌🍀

19720824 Motoring New (GB) published a report on Bertorelli, then 45 years old. His GTAm (HGN 19K) was tested at Silverstone, but shortly thereafter suffered engine failure at Thruxton. Specifications included: Spica injection, 220 hp, ZF limited-slip differential, close-ratio gearbox, 4.3:1 rear axle ratio, rubber bushings at the front, and 9x13" rims. Bertorelli had purchased a second car, a GTV 1750 (VPK 4G), because it was better suited to loose surfaces. Specifications for this car included: Weber carburetors, dry-sump lubrication, and 180 hp.
The second car was apparently painted the same scheme as the GTAm and covered with Bertorelli Ice Cream advertising, as evidenced by Andy Dawson/Peter Valentine's later participation in the RAC Rally in early December of that year. They retired due to transmission failure.

Described in a Facebook post as Andy Dawson and Alex Jardine in the Bertorelli 2000 [Sic] GTV at the 1973 Fram Castrol International Welsh Rally held on May 11-13, 1973, where they finished 9th. The results posted on eWRC also describe the car as a 2000 GTV. The photo shows that this car is also RHD and that the paint scheme is quite similar to the one on the Bertorelli GT Am.

Number 39 in above post is clearly a 2000GTV, so another car entirely and not the RHD 1750 with GTAm parts as mentioned previously. Bertorelli Ice Cream obviously supported a few cars.
This 2000GTV has standard steel wheels, bumpers etc, so most likely a Gp1 production car.

Dear Martin,

Thanks for this detailed info.
Do you know what kind of engine the VPK 4G car had? "Normal cylinder head" or Testa Stretta? I can assume something but that doesn't help.

Cheers, Olaf 👌🍀

Info added to the regularly updated GTAm chassisnumbers list in post #500 on page 25 of this thread.

Hello Olaf,

Thank you and congratulations on compiling the list of GTAm chassis numbers. I did have most of those but not all. I know we have exchanged 'notes' before. I do not think I can add anything to your list.

Have you compiled a list of engine numbers as well?
What I would like to know is the Chassis number of the GTA that came to SA in 1966, and Basil van Rooyen first, and then Sampie Bosman turned into a world beater.

Hi Toy,

I haven't got a clue which chassis number the Basil van Rooyen 1900 GTA is wearing.

Somebody will know or checked the book "Alleggerita" 2nd edition by Adriaensens, Dasse & Ăśbelher. It might be in there.

Ciao, Olaf 👌🍀

Hi Olaf.
I've contacted the Centro Storico and given them the full history of the car in SA and Angola, including the date it arrived and who bought it. They confirmed what I told them, including that it was an RHD, the interior and exterior colour, but refused to give me the chassis number.
Have a good evening.

Welcome. As a new member maybe you should introduce your self and say what your interest is in that RHD GTA, share the history and some pictures.

Then I would be more interested in sharing what I know about RHD GTAs.

Ciao

A few years back when I bought RHD GTA 752556, I contacted Centro Storico for the manufacture details and they asked for a whole list of proof of the car and ownership before they would send any information.
This included current dated photos of the car, the chassis number & various other aspects before they would even begin looking.
Within days of supplying them with their requirements, a reply with the details was forthcoming.
Incidentally, July 20th 1965 was 752556's birthday, so 60 years coming up soon.

Hi, Ken.

I've been a member of the group for many years and couldn't get in. So I created a new post. My apologies for not following protocols.
I've been writing on Alfas since 1977 and have done over one hundred articles on the subject.
As I saw Olaf mentioning the GTAm, it caught my attention.
The car, which ran on South African specifications, was faster than the genuine cars. When it raced in Angola, the locals wouldn't rest until they bought it in August 1974.
Best wishes.
Toy
