Intake (actually exhaust) manifold crack

Hello Alfa people my manifold intake just took it out for a nice clean job, changing gaskets and all. I just notice that one of the bleeding screw the tread is cracked, is it something that I can leave it as is or I might have issue later?
thank you very much
(sorry for the confusion, my mistake is a exhaust manifold)

Mike what car is this for please ??

You could simply glue that bolt into place to ensure there were no air leaks while looking out for another manifold, Locktite thread locker, JB weld or even simple yellow contact adhesive would work to seal it.

Alternately a good welder could fix it, but you would have to check that the faces of the manifold were straight after applying heat to it

Hi Greig, thank's. It's a Spider 1977, I was thinking to find a good welder so he can fix it so that I can avoid to buy a new manifold they are quite expensive, unless I have no choice.
thank's ciao

It's the manifold inlet bleeding screw with a copper washer, that's what I have in my Spider 1977 (us model) it might affect my air and fuel mix in my engine, unfortunately I haven't drive it yet ( just got it last summer) so I don't know if it's running smoothly.
Thank's

I agree with Jay. First you need a good welder, then you need a machinist. You might need to resize the thread and find i or make a new plug. You might end up with an awful looking mess.

Patch it up with grey JB WELD and watch for a deal on manifold which would likely be cheaper than the weld approach.

Yes, I do in Toronto. Is that east side??? Or more or less east side? Would be from 71 to 74.

If you're stuck, I just pulled a manifold off a 76 Spider parts car. I also have one from a 79 Spider which I just converted to pre-75 exhaust system.

why monkey with it? get an euro spec or pre 75 usa manifold and be done with it. its a much better manifold than the smog manifold in every aspect unless you need to run smog up in the Great White North in your local area

We don't need to meet any emission requirements in Ontario. Yes, its the ideal modification. However, its not just about swapping the manifold. You will also need a downpipe which is cost prohibitive to some, especially when factoring in shipping costs for a large item from the UK or US.

12 posts before someone realized that it's an image of an exhaust manifold. What y'all been smokin? If emissions aren't a concern, weld the holes closed.

It's not a bleed screw, it's a plug screwed in by somebody who removed the air injection system. Do yourself a favour. Throw this manifold as far as you can and get the two piece, 4-2-1 manifolds and pre-emission downpipes. Just as good as installing headers. The cars that had this manifold had 90 advertised horsepower.

If you are in the Toronto area, there are guys that have parts in stock. Check the "parts for sale" section on Kijiji, there are guys who post Ads for Alfa parts. In Montreal we have Lubrimont (Jett here on the board). Somebody is bound to have the exhaust parts in stock.

No one would bother to weld cast iron in this a application. The owner should get another exhaust manifold if he cares how it looks or get a steel plug and braze it in.
