Over the past year I have ordered a number of items from Classic Alfa. Many parts I have ordered did not fit even though I often confirmed they were correct prior to placing the order.
Here’s a list and whether they fit.
My car is a 67 Duetto with orig 1600 engine

hubcaps - ok
Alternator - ok
Alternator belt - didn’t fit
Plugs - ok
Plug wires - - didn’t fit
Rotor - didn’t fit
Cap - didn’t fit
Plastic trim piece convertible top - didn’t fit
Rubber top front seal - ok

Since return shipping from the US is so expensive I trashed the parts

Wondering if others have had similar issues and what other suppliers are more reliable.

I have had a better experience and get 99% of my parts from Classic Alfa. The only things that didn't fit perfect is the RHD floor pedals splash guard (but I suspect that my expectations of fit is better than even Alfa Romeo) and the pedal bellows that did fit but broke during installation (I blame Alfa Romeo here for a very poor design). There might have been other things but if metal I just modify them to fit how I want ... so happy customer.

I do have an account and it does have my car model recorded, but don't understand distributer parts not fitting ... and yes it costs a fortune to ship out to NZ ...

All of the parts I have ordered for my S4 have come from Classic Alfa. Not sure why you would throw the parts away because of return shipping. They sent me a power antenna that was DOA and I reached out and they sent me their DHL account #/airbill so freight did not come out of my pocket and they gave me a full refund.

These cars are now nearly 60 years old. During that time, often distributors, generators, front pulleys, and lots of other things have been swapped out. You can’t just go by your year and model in many cases.

To further my point, a ‘67 Duetto didn’t come with an alternator. So if yours has one, you shouldn’t expect it to fit.

true
he replaced it with the expensive Dynalite that CA sell, that looks like a dynamo.

the fact the plug wires, the rotor and the cap didn't fit strongly suggests your dizzy is not standard and has been swopped out.
What distributor have you, Bosch JF4?

and you never need to "trash" parts...put them on the BB classifieds, they will sell and you'll get most of your money back

I always use the toll free phone contact with Classic Alfa. They give you as much time to help you serach out parts and this is a good time to pose specifics about your application. A '67 Distributor might perhaps not be in your car. You have the opportunity to be very specific in the distributor make and model and they know what works.. another item about Bosch distributors is some have a screw on rotor and some don't . These are all important details CA can sort through.

Not sure of the purpose of the original post. If you have a problem with a supplier, you should work it out with them, and if that doesn't satisfy you, don't buy from them in the future.

I've only had good experiences with Classic Alfa, and they have worked very closely with the Alfa community to ensure that aftermarket parts are of high quality.

You just threw away the parts without bothering to contact them? That seems unwise.....

There are suppliers that are just about as reliable as Classic Alfa (100% in my experience), but none more reliable. I order most things from Classic Alfa and Centerline.

I've used Classic Alfa for years with no problems. You might also try BERTELSBECK, MY ALFA GROUP in Germany. Good service and good quality.

Classic Alfa provides excellent service.
Shipping: you work on your car all weekend, order the missing parts from ClassicAlfa Sunday night - then those new parts show up Wednesday lunchtime (I'm on the west coast) in plenty of time for the next weekend's work. Quicker than UPS Ground from Colorado, say, and not that much more expensive.

Stock: If it's on their website, it's usually in stock, but if not, they tell you promptly. Nothing worse than a website full of pictures that takes them 3 weeks to ship out.

Service: Years ago I had a few things show up damaged due to poor packaging - they shipped out replacements the same day they received my email (with pictures). No need for return.

I buy belts locally, but obviously the PO has some altered combination of pulleys and didn't tell anyone. I've bought parts from all the German vendors and found them to be fine but not quite as efficient at shipping or stocking.

I agree with the majority of replies in this thread. My experience with that company has been largely satisfying because they are very responsive the few times that I have raised issues, and standby the quality of their parts. As one example, the non-adjustable upper control arms that I wanted to replace on my ‘69 roundtail were too long. They let me send them back to them free of charge and with a refund.

I’ve had zero problems with Classic Alfa. I’ve also found that if your order is big enough, the lower parts prices more than offset overseas shipping costs.

And the only problem I’ve had with wrong parts from Centerline Alfa was self-inflicted. I ordered this part on two separate occasions. It’s listed under the spider parts section, but if I had read the entire description, I would see it’s not for my car. DOH! I gave the prop ends to GTV owners.

Let me go on record by stating I do love classic Alfa, great selection of products in superfast and inexpensive shipping however, I did order a Bosch style rotor for my 65 Giulia Spider Veloce the type that is held in place by a screw. For whatever reason, the replacement rotor would not even slip halfway down the rotor shaft. For the most part, it’s great outfit but once in a while, you get something that’s funky. It amazes me that in 2024 with all the computer generated images and measurements and so forth that replacement parts , sometimes do not fit. Just saying.
