This is the most recent chassis number list and explanation, a follow up on post # 404.
There is still more info to be added. That's done while reading back in this thread and checking things.
Please understand that the post contains only part of the known info, there simply isn't enough room to add all data. As this is an ongoing investigation so to say, further information is supplied in the posts beyond this one and in other threads, for example on specific chassis numbers.
Thank you for all the fellow members that contributed to this thread/database! This list wouldn't be possible without your ongoing contributions.
To understand the what and why of the GTAm, read the rest of this post. Have fun.
1. Definition.
As already said the GTAm was a racecar based on an Alfa Romeo 1750 GTV Iniezione (type 105.51) that had Spica fuelinjection. The car was homologated for Gruppo 2, through FIA homologation form No. 1576.
Gruppo 2 meant that at least 1000 production cars would have to be made. Gruppo 2 also meant that the car could deviate a lot more from the car on the street. Think engine, driveline, suspension, brakes, wheels, body, etc.. The homologation was valid from the 1st of October 1969.
Intermezzo;
Some details on brake boosters and pedal arrangement/fire wall.
Because of identification purposes, it is good to know that initially the production 1750 GTV had two brake boosters and standing pedals. Later in the production cycle that changed to a single brake booster, still with standing pedals.
And then it was equipped with the single booster with hanging pedals.
Which meant a different firewall.
The later built GTAm's followed suit.
The change to hanging pedals would have been around chassis number #1532000 according to sources. 1750 GTAm's built before had standing pedals, built after has hanging pedals.
Here is the reference by KenGTA.
And in this list, find the present knowledge on standing/hanging pedals situation per chassis number.
From 1750 GTV Iniezione to 1750 GTAm.
The 1750 GTV's were converted in period (1969 - 1973) by Autodelta and other tuners to GTAm specification. The FIA Homologation Form #1576 specifies, what changes could be made. Autodelta had a complete list of options to convert the car into a GTAm.
That list is specified in chapter 3.
Colours on the Autodelta cars.
A lot of the Autodelta factory cars kept their original colour and were road registered. Under their original 1750 GTV Iniezione chassis number and in the factory colour.
That is why there are Autodelta and other GTAm's in red, white, yellow, silver and many other colours.
Identifying a 1750 GTAm.
Difficulty with the GTAm is, that it never had a unique series of type- and chassisnumber.
This is unlike the type GTA (type 105.32 LHD and 105.34 RHD) and GTA 1300 Junior (type 105.59).
And let me remind you that along with the type 1750 GTV Iniezione (105.51), some European type 1750 GTV's (105.44) have been converted to GTAm. (standing and hanging pedals).
Besides that, we know that one UK privately owned 1750 GTV type 105.45 RHD drive was converted in-period. Probably in early or mid 1972.
More on that car in the chassis number list (Olaf, April 2025).
Then there are people who tell of GT 1300 Junior cars converted to 1750 GTAm. Because they were lighter?
Up to now, these stories have not been substantiated with facts and evidence. Not something to discard without reason and plenty to check and research.
Here is an Alfa Romeo Corse specifications list for the 1750 GTAm:
2. Variants.
There were variants within the 1750 GTAm theme, all of which were within the limits of homologation form #1576:
- new cars taken straight off the production line and converted to GTAm spec's by Autodelta SpA as Autodelta works cars, often in their original factory 1750 GTV colour.
- new cars taken straight off the production line and converted to GTAm spec's by Autodelta SpA as Autodelta customer cars
- existing cars converted to GTAm spec's by Autodelta SpA as Autodelta customer cars
- new or existing cars converted to GTAm spec's by others such as importers / tuners / racing teams. With parts from a specific tuner or a combination of Autodelta, Angelini, Balduzzi, Facetti and others. Like the Balduzzi (and Facetti cars, Olaf) that Tony Adriaensens mentions this in his 1st edition "Alleggerita" book.
- new or existing (replacement) bodyshells with or without a chassisnumber that were equipped with Autodelta, Angelini, Balduzzi and other parts (for example from wrecked cars)
- other variants on this theme in various stages of tune within the rules and specifications of the homologation of the 1750 GTAm.
Edited: All this "in period" (1969 untill and including 1973).
3. Options.
There is a list of Autodelta factory options for your 1750/2000 GTAm called "GTAm modifications & options". Source of this info is the 1st edition of 'Alleggerita' by Tony Adriaensens.
In the 2nd edition of 'Alleggerita' by Adriaensens, Dasse & Übelher, you will find a list and photographs of the parts that are specific to the GTAm (als well as to the Giulia Sprint GTA, GTA-SA and GTA 1300 Junior). This 2nd edition is a must for any GTA, GTA 1300 Junior, GTA-SA and 1750/2000 GTAm fan!
The options can also be found in the "Performance Options Catalog" (nr. IV or Rev 2/77):

**** On the Colotti gearbox;
On special demand:
- 16 valve, single ignition cylinder testa stretta heads approx. 240 hp with 16V exhaust manifold. Not homologated for 1750 GTAm Gruppo 2 but used in for example hillclimb cars.
- T64 braking torque differential
I doubt whether this list is fully complete.
What about for example:
- Special Autodelta works engines upgraded to 84.6 x 88.5 giving 1990cc
And what about for example other tuners such as Angelini with it's 2000cc 16 valve cylinderhead with Weber carburettors.
And what about GTAm parts made by other tuners like Facetti, Balduzzi, Conrero and others?
A lot of questions left to be answered.
Further specifications can be found in the homologation papers.
4. Developments.
A lot of GTAm's will have been rebuilt and updated during and after their racing life, engines and gearboxes were swapped, extra weight taken off for example hillclimbing, they have been restored, etc ..... And some of these cars had great palmares while others were less fortunate.
Think of engines bored out by Autodelta from 84,5 x 88,5mm giving 1985cc to 84,6 x 88,5mm giving 1990cc. Think of Autodelta 4V (16 valve) cylinder heads. Chassis, suspension and brakes improvements. Lightening of the body with aluminium and plastic/fibre glass parts.
A seperate thread on Mono Sleeves in the GTAm and other cars, can be found here:
Facetti, Balduzzi, Angelini and others had their own (engine) developments for the 1750 GTAm.
Genuine cars and copies:
Besides that, there are a lot of copies and "tribute" cars with various stages of tune and less or more original GTAm parts. Have a look around on alfabb and you will see a lot of GTV's being changed into GTAm copies. Some of them are very nice and well built.
5. Chassisnumbers.
Here is the list with chassisnumbers and the sources of the information we have collected sofar. This list is an updated and extended version of the earlier lists published in this thread. It considers which chassisnumbers are genuine and which ones are copies or questionmarks.
The chassis number of the car can be found in the engine bay. It sits on the top of the fire wall on the passenger side. It should have a certain fond, spacing and alignment. Amongst other things.
In the forward raingutter of the bagage compartment, near the base of the rear window, the Alfa Romeo type identification was stamped. It should read 105.51 or 105.44 for the exceptions. KenGTA has a seperate thread on that.
Please note! Being considered a genuine 1750 GTAm in this thread doesn't mean, that the car that is carrying that chassisnumber at this moment in time, is the same car.
The same car as in the bodyshell that left the Autodelta factory or the same bodyshell that was built by tuners, importers or private teams.
Several genuine cars have had their bodyshell replaced at some moment in their life because of crashes, extensive rust damage or for other reasons.
Sources of information.
The initial sources for the list of 1750 GTAm's below are these publications:
- Maurizio Tabucchi (MT) in his book 'Alfa Romeo GTA' from 1994
- Tony Adriaensens in his 1st edition of the book 'Alleggerita' from 1994
- Tony Adriaensens, Patrick Dasse & Martin Übelher (A,D&Ü) in their 2nd edition of the book 'Alleggerita' from 2012
- research by members of this forum
- my own research.
The lists in these books were compiled and other known 1750 GTAm's were added. The "Alleggerita" 2nd edition from 2012 resulted in adding chassis numbers to the list.
When a car is mentioned in these books, it is listed in the description of that chassis number.
Look for "history mentioned by A,D&U" for cars mentioned in the "Alleggerita" books by Adriaensens, Dasse & Übelher.
And look for "(Source: MT)" for cars mentioned in the book "Alfa Romeo GTA" by Maurizio Tabucchi.
The so-called "bad scan".
In some of the descriptions you will see a so called "bad scan" mentioned.
That was a fax/list of chassisnumbers with errors, that circulated and caused misunderstandings concerning the chassisnumbers. These things can happen, especially in the pré internet period.
Don Best and Martinue did research on the chassis number typos and corrected them. Don is mentioned in reference to the "bad scan" to make clear why some chassis numbers are not GTAm's. Leaving these numbers out would create confusion. That's why they are mentioned.

# 1530037 Copy. Red.
This car was said to be prepared at the end of 1973/early 1974, it has/had a Balduzzi camcover, the history is mentioned by A,D&Ü. But in the 2024 sales text, this car is named an "Autodelta" 1750 GTAm.
There is discussion about the status of the copy of the original 1974 Autodelta invoice that is with #1530037.
Martinue states that this invoice belongs to chassis number #2421455. A 2000 GTV Gruppo 2 car.

This car exists (2023) with hanging pedals set up. The most plausible reason for that, is that the bodyshell on this car was swapped at some point. Because of damage during racing for example. Or during restoration. That could explain why the car now has hanging pedals. My opinion.

There exists (2024) a car with chassis number #1530952.
The claim is that the 1973 wreck was restored to working order.
Given the damage in 1973, a resurrection or reconstruction seems the most plausible scenario. My personal opinion.

# Unknown number 1 Questionmark
Source: KenGTA/alfabb
This car is representing the Frank Marino GTAm after the Sanair crash. The car doesn't have a chassis number. According to the story, an unnumbered bodyshell replaced the original GTAm shell after the crash. That sounds possible and plausible.
The car was located at Arnage Classics in France in 2024.
# Unknown number 2 GTAm ****
A 1750 GTV type, 105.45 (RHD). Registration VPK 4G. We know that one privately owned 1750 GTV RHD type 105.45 was converted in the UK. Probably in early 1972.
This car crashed at the end of the 1970's.
See the link for more data on this car by Martinue.
Quote by Adrian Bertorelli;
"Olaf Roeten, no sorry only the UK registration number was VPK4G it originally was a 1750 GTV white with a black wabesco roof
First owner was Alfa GB."
"I was 17 when my mother got this car and I learnt to drive in it
This was the car that made the whole family fall in love with Alfa’s."
And this is the post by Adrian Bertorelli:
**** See the different "variants" identified in chapter 2. That is the reason to qualify the cars.
Some members will have a different opinion on the status of a car. It depends on which of the variants you qualify as a 1750 GTAm. Some only qualify factory built Autodelta 1750 GTAm's, others have a broader definition.
Addition:
Then we have homologation Form 5440 for the 2000 GTV Gruppo 2.
A "hybrid" unficato 2000 GTV bodyshell with a 1750 GTAm 1985cc engine?
See this post for the specs of a 2000 GTV Gruppo 2.
105.21 chassisnumbers from the 2000 GTV conversion to 2000 GTV Gruppo 2:
# 2421455, 2000 GTV Gruppo 2.
An early (1971) 2000 GTV converted by Autodelta in early 1974, accompanied by an invoice which states the above chassis number.
With a 1750 GTAm engine? According to the list of homologated parts; possible.
Quote by Martinue:
"The three race entries of VIN #1530037 in the book "Alleggerita" 2nd edition, belong to #2421455."
Jean Pierre Rochat with #2421455.
Please remember that this list is not complete, where the history of the individual chassis is concerned. There simpy isn't enough room to add all that is known.
Please note that Adriaensens, Dasse & Übelher ("history mentioned by A, D & Ü") have added a lot of history to the individual chassisnumbers in the 2nd edition of "Alleggerita".
More is to come, because A, D & Ü did not add history that could not be verified. For example #1530840 and #1530841 are two of the chassisnumbers with a lot of info to be added.
Furthermore, Tom Tanner made a list of colours belonging to the different chassisnumbers.
Please feel free to comment on and add information to this list.
