Unknown Veglia fuel tank sender

Has the look and feel of something pre-105 ... can someone identify this for me?

It looks like a fuel sending unit for 2600 cars -- worth about USD 100-300 depending on demand in the market place.

You can check it with an Ohm meter: One of the contacts should show 90 Ohms against the enclosure (ground) with the floater in the highest position (tank full). The other contact is for the 'low fuel' warning light.

I came across some repro fuel senders (Jaeger and Veglia) for the Lancia Appia, sold by Cavallito in Turin. You might be familiar with these already, but the upper part of the unit looks almost identical to the 2600 fuel sender, with the exception of the pivot rod mechanism and the location of the electrical terminals. I wonder if it would be worth exploring further if this sender could be adapted?
