Metallic Olive Green AR213

Does anyone own a Metallic Olive Green (Verde olivia metallizzato) GTV, preferably 2000? I'm reconsidering the color choice for my 73 GTV resto (biancospino) on account of having bought a white 911 3.2 and (unrelated) starting to see my car for what it is; a product of the 70's not 60's. I realize that a lot of my color reference pictures are from stepnose cars, and while the body & accent lines are not that different in the later cars, the interior is significantly different and part of me doesn't want to fight the 70's but to embrace it. So one of my look and feel references are contemporaneous Montreals such as the attached. I really love unusual, grow-on-you colors. I was dead set on getting a 911 in a really great weird color and was hearbroken when an Oak Green Metallic with Nato Green leather interior slipped thru my hands. I love the white/red leather car I ended up with but it does make me want some hue on the GTV.

I'm also curious to know if anyone knows of GTVs that were painted in Montreal colors from the factory, which I hear was done on special request (in principal) but have no evidence to substantiate this.

So if you have an AR213 car, please share pictures! Especially if for some reason ended up with a black interior, which I know was never offered from the factory but I have already re-upholstered my interior (and did a pretty good job I think) in black vinyl. I didn't initially consider AR213 on account of my interior - the olive looks great with a warm interior as the factory knew - but I'm starting see the appeal of a black interior with olive, it has a sort of military aspect to it which I like. The value of AR213 is relatively light and should work with a black interior better than say Verde Pino which would look terrible with black in my opinion.

Was that black interior factory or swapped? Looks nice. Cant see much of the interior but the paint and wheels look good, even in the garage.

If I'm reading the 72 chart correctly the int options with Olive met were S-12-9 which I believe are
S=Nut Brown
12=Pigskin
9=Brown Leather

Interior was Maremma wild boar which was a bit rough so I had it done on black vinyl with cloth inserts, the seats are out at as I'm giving the interior a thorough clean and attending to some maintenance that easier done with the seats out.
I will post some better pictures for you

Jorge.

Thanks 105 Junior. Sorry to keep bugging you but could you send a pic taken from the outside looking into the car, showing the paint and black interior in the same pic? Trying to get a feel for how the combo works.

Hey r-mm
No problems we're all here to help each other
These pictures are all I have at the moment until I put the interior back together as I have an electrical issue that I'm having trouble sorting

Noticed this in the back of Octane. Cool car & color and presuming originality (just a guess) suggests olive & black were sold together.

Another data point voting for olive & black and another car I'd love to own...

105 junior that looks great, nice stance. Have any more pictures with the gta wheels? Im still quite far away from paint on my car but still like this intriguing color.

Thanks Yves - I noticed that color on the alfa literature and looked it up recently. It's purely a matter of personal taste but I'm looking for something with a bit more assertive and unique hue than gold, but it is most certainly period correct.

Porsche had many fascinating tertiary colors, all of which I find so much more appropriate for a 70's car with brightwork than their primary equivalents. For instance Peru red is just so much more interesting to me than Guards red. I also love the color of the first car on this thread...

Yes, Porsche had interesting color choices. Just for fun I scanned the 1975 Porsche 911 color cards; both the "standard" range and the generous "optional" choices. The scans came out a bit lighter than the cards.

You are right about Champagne being a bit bland; my memory is associated with a GTV that existed in my childhood neighborhood. It was a deeper gold, but obvioulsy had been repainted. Champagne, while it still looks good on a GTV, reminds me of the bland color choices on current vehicles.

Two other original Alfa colors that would look good with a black interior are Piper Yellow or Light Blue Metallic. I am not sure this color was ever offered on the 2000 GTV, though.

Whatever you choose, be aware that ordering modern paint in an ancient color code does not always deliver the expected shade; many changes in paint chemistry are involved. Get a sample mixed and tested before getting the whole bodyshell painted...

Thanks for posting - I love so many of those colors, and the 911 has an almost unnatural way of wearing every color well.

My car was originally "Beige Cava" according to the Alfa Storico registry. Probably looked a lot like the picture below. What do you think of that color? My wife has a visceral reaction against it. I think its interesting from an intellectual standpoint but can't say I find it beautiful, sporty or Italian.

The only reason I would have a Beige Cava GTV is if the paint were completely original and in good condition. Otherwise, the painter's going to be shooting another color. Beige is sooo :sleeping:

Great choice on the Metallic Olive. :thumbup:
