I agree, Greg should edit his posy and delete that info. I wish I could easily delete my same info from years before such scammers.
K
Ken we edit out old emails and numbers from years back quite regularly - I'll check into your past posts for you

Pre the chinese pestilence there was less scammer activity, but in the last 4 years it's increased markedly as these muppets have become bolder...

Thank you, the edit has already happened , Jay assisted me
I was so flustered earlier I posted my # &email on BB thinking I was posting in Jay’s personal mailbox. Jay, being conscientious, immediately deleted my numbers.. good man Jay!

Well sure he did. Just a few days ago you put your phone number in post #2 at https://www.alfabb.com/threads/milano-wiper-motor.734471/?post_id=8899269#post-8899269 , as well as in post #7 here: https://www.alfabb.com/threads/giul...eads/giulietta-101-spider-windshield-frame.709772/?post_id=8705155#post-8705155.

I would strong suggest that you edit those out and stop putting your phone number in publicly-accessible places.

@ballough510 - Ric I edited out your email address from 19 different posts going back to 2014, plus one from 2016 with your contact number in it, plus I've just edited your number out of the two posts that Jay picked up above - You owe me one there mate ;)

Use the PM system for deals - no one else can read that info, not even us Admins, it's private

are admins OK if we hit the report button if we see personal contact details posted in any thread?
Or is that just creating more 'unpaid' work for you guys ?

I've sent a PM/conversation to one or two people that posted their PII were the public can see it.

It surprises me sometimes how many people still post their info where it can be seen by all. But I guess there are many that haven't figured out the state of the world these days or else the scammers would be forced out of business.

Good plan, the more eyes the better, one of us will see that report and then just delete the personal info

I sent you an "edit" just for info so you can see what the system can do for posts we edit

The private Conversation function (what we call the Private Message or PM function) is found by clicking on a Member's name, this will open a new screen on that particular member's details, look below the Avatar for "Start Conversation"

Click on that and it opens up the private message function - type your message <-- this is totally private, we Admins cannot see it if we are not participants in your private conversation.

Here's a FREE offer, if you don't get a warm & fuzzy feeling about something - just add me in as a second participant in the conversation & flick me a another separate PM to explain why / what. If the other member is legit then no worries, if they are dodgy... having an Admin eyes-on will lessen their enthusiasm for dodgy stuff.

There I go... making work for myself :ROFLMAO:

New user "declanjames" - who opened that obviously bogus conversation with Nostromo - has been banned from the BB. However, there is nothing to stop the same individual from cooking up a different user name and trying again. So be careful!

But I thought new users had to get 10 posts before they could PM? How did this happen.

Anyone get a personal email from this address: carlovers694@gmail.com

I posted a want ad a couple of hours ago and he emails me to my personal email and says he has a perfect part for me. The picture was wrong, but then says he has the right part. Somewhat suspect.

Thanks,

Of course it's a scam.

You should remove your email address from your signature (and anywhere else that the public can see it).

In the future if you have a want add or for sale post, ask anyone that is interested to send you a PM/conversation.

Alas Stefano, it is a scam, this is the classic modus operandi - get the email address and take the conversation off the BB where no one has your back - ask if he has sunroof rails for a 916 Spider or 2.0 cylinder head for an Alfasud or 1300 pistons for a Montreal Alfa & watch the response

For what it's worth, I edited your profile to remove your email address - rather stick to the BB private conversation system, it's encrypted, so not even I can see a private conversation - if you are in a private conversation with someone and you don't get a warm & fuzzy feeling then just add me to the conversation & flick me a separate message explaining why - I'll check the other party out for you...

Yeah, I asked for some details on the car it came out of, and there was no further response. The very next day I got another email from this: tomauto544@gmail.com. I also asked some trick questions and he fell away.

I would not fall for these, but thought I would report it. These are probably burner email addresses as well.
