I bought a new exhaust (down pipe to tail pipe) from Classic Alfa. However, it now makes contact with the rod for the mechanical clutch (See pic). I don’t have the original to compare as I bought this car partially disassembled. I don’t know if the issue Is the exhaust or the fitment of the peal box which was also original to the car. Any help sincerely appreciated.

CA knows their stuff so if you told them that you have a floor pedal car, they sent you the correct exhaust section.
That's likely a manufacturing defect or imperfection as mentioned above.
The hanging pedal components would be hitting the down pipe itself if it was the wrong part.

Is the 1600 still in the car or it there a 1750 or 2000 engine in place of original? Also, what condition are the motor mounts in?

appreciate these pics. I’m going to try to drop the arm, finish the entire installation of the exhaust and refit the arm. However, I‘ve noticed another issue - I didn’t have the original exhaust mount off the transmission so I got one from a later car assuming the same - it isn’t as it doesn’t fit over the brake master cylinder. IF you could take a pic of that, I‘d appreciate it. I have a pic of what I’m referring to attached.

Having a similar issue, on a 65 105 sprint, with a 1750, got the 1750 version, for floor mounted pedals and having the same issue, one thing I did do was remove the clevis pin where it gets close and turned it around, the flat head side gives a smidgen more room, haven't gone back to complete the install. Keep us posted plwase/

I took two, front & back.
When I bought the car 20 years ago, the transmission bracket was missing so I installed one I had in a parts bin.
Not sure if it was the correct one for a 67 but I got one hole to line up.
Its been fine since.
They are known for not always lining up exactly.

I wasn’t able to source the correct model year tranny to exhaust bracket, I retrofitted it by bolting/extending a piece of heavy 14 or 16 gauge L metal . I did have to customize and grind out the curve of the MC as well as make room for a nut. Looks like your exhaust has 4 collectors at that point where it meets the clutch bar, mine (67 Gtv) only 2 which gives a lot of space. Are you sure you’re not pulling your exhaust too much to the right on account of the incorrect tranny bracket? can you not push the exhaust to the left to prevent touching?

That tab off the new exhaust which touches the bar looks almost there from not touching, you may be able to gently pound it up or down to clear, or carefully grind it down, but you don’t want to make it weaker or accidentally compromise the system with a hole.
Also you can try to make your own custom tranny bracket which can put some pressure towards the left away from the clutch rod

I have a similar problem with a new centerline system on my 67 Super. Same vintage 105 chassis should be the same?

It doesnt hit the clutch rod, but its very close. Also I can only install one bolt for the tranny bracket as shown in post #10. I believe the tranny/exhaust bracket is correct/stock. I think the poor fit is due to an exhaust system production problem.
