I bought at a fleamarket a box with some round cans of thick NATO grease. This I apply with a popsicle stick from time to time… no rocket science needed.
And you don't find it attracts road grit to stick on it Marcel? The few sliding blocks I've seen have always been very gouged & worn from trapped sand / grit rubbing between the surfaces. I've always assumed the bronze block to be a sacrificed item & replaced like say, brake pads. I've never actually run one on the road myself, so happy to be advised.

It’s not so bad as you think. In the beginning, I greased it very regularly. By the time I got lazier, doing it just once before an event or a trip.
To be clear, it’s nothing I drive regularly on public roads, but sometimes on a weekend for a small test or fun drive through some nice roads, or on the way to a nearby event.
The dust is not so bad as to be expected, because most of the time it’s more on the outside, not on the gliding surface.
Also: as it’s on the rear axle, it gets quite warm with the time and grease is melting away, so you have just a Sim remaining film, which is not so much taking the dirt.
also, as you can see on my video, it’s not moving the whole way all the time, but travelling in a smaller 10-15 cm area regularly and only moving more which some hard cornering or jumps.
when I have the car at our washing station or on the lifting platform, I clean the surface, but in the main running area it’s clean. And it’s the same bronze block since the beginning

It would be important to know what flavor the ice cream was, though! 😝

Magnum Almond flavour (or the copied Aldi discounter version of it) 😂

if there is need, I can set up a shop with the sticks. Summer is over, so the storage is well filled 😉

Thank you all! The Avon CR6ZZ 185/70R14 are difficult to find in California, so possibly other options?
Avons are usually available from Roger Kraus Racing in Castro Valley, CA.

IMO there is nothing else that compares to the Avons for a road driven GTA fitted with a slittone.

But I'm potentially concerned about rear fender clearance on an early low fenderline car if fitted on 7x14 wheels ... the Avons are taller and have wider section width than any other 185/70-14. the fenders may need some massaging/pulling.

You might want to check fitment before you commit ...

I suggested it to a few people in the community who I thought might be interested, but I didn't get any positive feedback!
If I had a little more financial mobility these days, I'd buy it, even just to hang it over the fireplace!
It's a truly unique piece!
