GT 1300 Junior Wheel/Tire Recommendation

I own a 1971 GT 1300 Junior, it mounts the standard 165/80R14 with "big hubcap" wheels. I need to soon replace my Barum tires, they are wearing out. I will probably replace them with more appropriate Cinturato's or Michelin's.
Even though I like the current wheels, I have been toying with the idea of changing wheels as well with something "GTA style" like those sold by Alfaholics and Classic Alfa.
  1. Based on your experience, which tire size would you recommend for a GT Junior? Should I keep the 165R14 or mount a wider/bigger tire? Any advantage/disadvantage in having a bigger wheel on this type of car?
  2. If I decide to keep the original 165R14 tire size, what wheel width do I need? The GTA style start from 6" width, will they work?
Thanks in advance.

The Alfaholics GTA style 6x14" wheel specifies the intended tyre size as
Fitment185/70 x 14″ Tyres

I have this size tyre on my standard steel wheels (1975 GT Junior 1600/2000GTV mongrel). I think the standard steel wheel is 5.5 x 14, but I don't know if you can use a 165/80R14 with a 6x14 wheel
