How do you get to the screw for the plastic alignment piece without dropping the headliner? It’s a bottom up direction and I can’t get any ratchet or anything in there to loosen that screw. It seems like Alfred somehow did it without dropping the headliner which I too am trying to avoid

OK guys have the same problem, but how to take the glass out?
It’s on the first page

  1. Remove sunroof glass. This is the only step that having a helper is valuable for, because it can be awkward to lift off after removing the six (6) screws.
    • T25 Torx – Two (2) external and one (1) internal on both the driver and passenger side, for a total of six (6) screws.

I have a very low mileage 2019 and just failed the other day. Only used it a couple times. Was quoted $3,350. I decided to try the repair outlined in this thread and worked fantastic. I epoxied the metal tube to the plastic alignment adapter and also coated the plastic adapter with epoxy to make it stronger. As an extra measure, I clamped an M4 rope clamp to the rear of the metal tube up against the frame and epoxied that. This should hold the tube in place if it ever tries to separate again. One of my plastic adapters was split in half. That side was very challenging and took the most time. But all in all well worth it and very satisfying. Shout out and huge thanks to the people in forums like this!!

I took a t25 socket and put a very small angled box wrench around the shaft of the bit and added tape to keep it together. Worked great. I couldn't even get a mini 90° bit ratchet in there. The angled box wrench was key. This went slow but did work. Was quicker going back in than coming out.

Hello everyone, I have this problem with my Stelvio, one side does not close on the panorama, the principle of the repair is the same as with the Giulia, thanks in advance

Of all the decades of making sunroofs, you would think they could design ones which wouldn't fail, LOL.

I'm not touching the one in our 2020 Giulia Q4. Don't need them in this area, even if the non a/c ventilation in the Giulia is not as good as the older cars, IMO.

That would be the most logical conclusion for sure. I'm not sure what went wrong in the process with this auto maker because I have never had anything close to this kind of issue with any other car I have owned. To use a plastic fitting in the most crucial spot of operation tells me it's all about future revenues for parts and dealers. Designed totally wrong. A metal adapter with a secure metal tube attachment point would have made this a non issue for all of us!! And how about the lack of easy access to the motor from the headliner to allow any manual operation. Just stupid. I did my repair in a way so the roof could be used, not just to get closed. However, I agree with you, not going to touch it to avoid the headache and consider this battle won!! But, if I ever hit the wrong button and open it I stand a pretty good chance it will close again.

I don't use mine anymore since it was fixed under warranty.
