Hey there,
Wanted to get some thoughts on the S4 from some spider folks. I absolutely love the looks of them and the thought of having a more modern, end of run spider.
I’ve driven 2, the first was extremely nice, everything worked, I loved the power steering, suspension was tight and it felt special to drive. Problem? The motor was completely uninspiring. Drove a second one that clearly had some bodywork done, but to the layman, looked just as nice as the first. Dirt cheap and a great buy. Same issue - the motor did not raise my pulse at all. Have stopped considering them.
I’m now driving my very first Alfa, which is an Alfetta sedan (have also briefly owned a Milano and G. The engine is not too powerful, but sounds great and seems to always beg me to grab it by the scruff of the neck and drive hard.
I know this is subjective, but is there any remedy to making the S4 engine more enjoyable? Both of them just had kind of a rough feel at upper rpms and didn’t sound or feel good (to me). Is there some combo of exhaust mods, maybe a cold air kit and chip that gives them more urge and charisma? I’m in california so major mods or swaps are out of the question
Im beguiled by the looks and want to own one, but just can’t seem to feel that Alfa charisma behind the wheel.
Any feedback is welcome.
