I live in Riverside CA can't find a true mechanic. Here is the problem, I can be driving my alfa then about 35-60 miles the car just loses power until I'm in first gear moving it off the road. No power in 5th-2nd gear, then it shuts off unable to start. Then I can come back after a couple of hours then it starts right up again. What's going on or where can I go? I have triple A. Things that I have done change fuel tank pump; fuel pump; fuel filter; air intake.

What happens if you remove the fuel fill cap immediately after its been acting up?

Unless there is a chunk of the converter core moving around and blocking the cat exit, I would think the back pressure from a clogged cat would show up way before 35-60 miles. If something further back in the exhaust system became that rotted to collapse and block the flow I would think the pressure would blow a new vent in the system someplace.
Still, something to check and verify as good.
