I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this. My starter is not behaving. It turns the engine, but makes a loud clacking noise while doing so. This started recently, out of the blue.
Here's a short video of what it sounds like. Carbs off and plugs out to reduce strain on the starter/battery while testing and the noise is still present:
The battery is fairly new (a year old) and fully charged. I installed a relay for the starter a year ago and that's been working perfectly. I have tested running jumper cables directly to the starter in addition to the existing cables, which didn't have any effect.
The starter was rebuilt a year ago. Anyone have any idea what might cause this?
