The rear bumper may be tricky for the '71 since it had the top holes for license plate lights, and no bumperettes, but you could always look around for '72-'74 bumpers and then add the holes I guess.

Thx for your assistamce. I’m only looking to put on a very thin chrome bumper forward and aft without the vertical 5mph crash bars. I thought the little bumps as bumper would look good but not liking them anymore. I may design something, have my friend fabricate and then have them dipped chrome by my other frie D who o was Kuntz Electoplating (they do Harley’s chroming for all of their bikes). I am in Kitchener, Ontario, Canada. What are your thoughts? Silly thoughts or worthwhile? Jasper

 

That could definitely look cool if you fabricate something. The Series 1 front bumperettes look pretty nice, but I don't know if you can swap them directly to a Series 2. There have been folks who have installed a Datsun 510(?) bumper on the rear of their S2's and they've come out really clean looking.

 

Yes, it'll fit, you just need the hardware. There are a couple of hooks that screw onto the chrome strips on the rear deck, and a couple of hooks that cinch the hard top down to the soft top frame.

There is a red one in Indiana with all the hardware but don’t have anyone going that way unless I use U-Ship. There is another in NC which I can easily fetch and he is offering it for free but I haven’t heard back yet. Thx man.
