Anyone out there performed this particular task? I have an ‘83, under revs I can hear the cable slapping against the driveshaft so replacement is needed, already have a new cable but need a bit of peer infused courage. The manual states the exhaust needs to be removed first. Tips? Thanks in advance

The Milano's cable just let go last week, so I have this job on my to-do list as well. Hard part is getting to the front attachment point. I haven't checked, but hoping not to have to drop the drive shaft.

My plan of attack:
  • Drop the center muffler
  • Unbolt the De-Dion mount and jack it down - hopefully w/o having to disconnect the rear Giubo.
  • Worm my hands in there to remove the front attachment.
IIRC, there is a retainer bracket at the front that the cable end runs through. You have to orient the cable just right to get it to pass.

I've removed and installed the cable a couple of times, but always with the driveline out of the car. It's one of the first pieces to go back in. 😂

Are you sure your cable is bad? maybe it just needs to be repositioned? (one can dream :) )
