Should be able to go to the parts store and match it to 1 that will work... not super critical good luck

 

i ripped the one that is actually in the car and replaced it with a similar sized one.
Then it started dumping gear oil on my garage floor.

I’m hoping someone out there either knows the parts number or knows a good solution.

 

Sounds like you may have got one with too small a cross section. A good hardware store should have a selection of o-rings you can leaf through. Hopefully you have the old, broken one and you can just match it up. Otherwise look for one that fits the groove with a little clearance and projects from the OD of the sender just a bit. There are "right" fits for an o-ring, but this application is not that critical.
