There are some cluster disassembly instructions in the first few posts of this thread.

Note that the clear piece is glued to the framing around the instruments. So you can get to the backside of it a bit by going in through the speedometer/tachometer openings, but it's not going to be particularly easy to get it completely clean.

Yeah, it's a bit unnerving the first time you do it. I think I've done it about ten times now for various reasons, so that makes it less intimidating.

The most challenging bit for me is getting the bottom of the trim ring back in place. Other than that it's pretty straightforward.

 

It sounds like the cluster can separated in half to clean the gauge inside of the plastic window?
