So I recently got my 2L converted Giulia 1300TI up and going. After I set timing, I went about syncing the carbs..DHLA 40 "L" emissions model. I got them to sync, but i had to screw the balance screw as far in as I could.
Then I went to set idle speed....and I cannot get it lower than ~1500 RPM steadily. When I back the idle screw out I back it out by 1/8 of a turn, blip the throttle, then let it settle...then repeat until I see the revs decrease. Once the RPM starts to dip...the revs just continue to dwindle and the engine dies.
I have the idle jet holder with the large hole in the top of it, and four small holes around the perimeter just below the oring....no numbers are present on it.
My idle jets are 60's. My AFR's at idle are sitting in the mid 13's, with the mixture screws turned out 4 turns from there seats. Coming off idle slowly as not to engage the pump jet, my AFR's hang out in the high 12's to the low 13's. I am unsure what direction to take at this point. I think i may have a vacuum leak, but spraying brake cleaner around any possible leak location does not yield a change in RPM. I pulled off the progression hole covers, and I have 5 progression holes...the first ones are open at idle.
Should idle jet holder be the style that has a solid top (no hole), and larger holes around the perimeter just under the o-ring?
Any other advice?
TIA
