First things first, I know zilch about Honda motors.

I do however know of Matt Brannon who owns Midwest Bayless and he has done quite a few K20 into X-1/9 conversions and even offers a kit. It might be worthwhile to check with him to see what he uses for ecus.

Thanks! I appreciate the lead very much. I’ll look him up and give him a call.

No personal experience with either but I've seen far too many projects d*ck around with stock management before finally going to stand-alone, and they always regret not having done so sooner.

However, speak with a local tuner/dyno which ECU they prefer working with, that is more important than which brand is best on paper.

Unless you are going to tune it yourself, it is far better to ask your tuner (pick one out) what ECUs they know and just go with that.

That said, "stock" ECUs for K swaps are pretty common, as both hondata and k-tuner are available if you get the right ECU. Though that is all I know on hondas, I have no personal experiance.

If you are going to learn to tune yourself, you can, in order of most to least expensive, go with haltech, megasquirt, or speeduino, depending on feature set needed and how far down the rabbit hole you wabt to go.

More boring but necessary stuff tonight with a couple lifting eyes for the back end of the engine.

Hahaha! I’ve got some go-fast high horsepower stickers I can slap on it too, to really kick this sacrilegious build into the next gear.

What’s that old saying?
“When the odds are 50/50, 90% of the time I choose wrong.” I woke up this morning and immediately thought, “Shoot, I put my friction disc in backwards.” [emoji2357]

I snagged a flowmaster as well but am struggling to find space for it. I’m going to pick up a cherrybomb style and get to it.

Any updates?
Not much lately. Lots of traveling for work and trying to be present while home.

I have
1) Started laying out exhaust components last weekend
2) Pulled the oil pan to plan on adding capacity
3) Realized that I need to remake the transmission polyurethane mounts. One of the studs I cast in torqued out due to a poor design on my part.
4) Been researching ECU options. I’m leaning towards a Haltech 1500.

Here’s a topic I’d love some input from the group on if anyone has some. My plan has been to weld a bulge onto the side of the oil pan to make up the volume that I removed when sectioning it to fit over the front crossmember. The driver side is a no go due to my alternator occupying that space. The passenger side is very shallow and would be terribly advantageous to bump out. What I’m considering is adding a remote tank, downstream of a remote mounted oil filter. This would allow a volume of oil to be present, past the anti drain back valve of an oil filter, and not require modifying the pan further.

Help me poke holes in this please to see what I may not be. Will this work? Will it not?

I cant suggest anything on added locations, but will say the added capacity is a really good idea. Hows clearance underneath? Could always add a type of area around the oil pump so it always has oil to drink
Clearance is the same as with a stock engine…non existent unless you want to scrape pans.

I have a Vibrant 2.5” bottle resonator if you’re interested. I’m moving to a 3” setup on my 24v.

Thanks! I would have preferred the Vibrant but saved a few bucks and bought the Summit Racing house brand instead.
