Did the historics and concorso italiano announce their featured marques for 2005?

Ciao,

No announcement as yet. I called General Racing and they are at Lime Rock and won't be back until 9/13. I e-mailed them and asked them to let me know as soon as a decision is made.

The next Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance is slated for Aug. 21, 2005 and will spotlight Alfa Romeo, the 100th anniversary of Delage and 75 years of Pininfarina.

Man, that sucks.

Every year I go, traffic gets worse and worse. To get into the Concorso back in 1992 was about 15 minutes. The last four years it has gone from one hour to almost two hours this year.

Then, to get into Laguna for the Historics on the Saturday usually takes about an hour, with prepaid tickets and a Corral parking pass. I swore, after this year, that I wasn't ever going to go again. Or, if I do, it will be with Jay Leno in his helicopter (I don't know if he has one, I made that up).

But! With Alfa as the featured marque, I guess I'm duty bound to go .... with my Alfa. Shucks. Now I wish I had a vintage Alfa to race with.

Isn't a 17-year old Alfa vintage enough? No?

Drat.

We were a mere 30 minutes behind you ... and it took us 1hr 48 mins this year :(

Perhaps we should have just stayed in Monterey on Thu night, but since we live only an hour twenty minutes away, we figured we'd just drive there like we do every year. It seems that everyone started arriving right around 7:00 and 7:15am and after that, it was just chaos. A few of exotic old cars got stuck on the roadside with the hood up (most probably overheating)... AND getting ticketed by the traffic cops for illegally parking.

Let's hope things work out better for 2005, or else, there are rumors of FCA (Ferrari Club of America) not showing up at all next year.

Now THERE's an idea!! :D

What a bonehead I am... I totally missed the first page of this thread. I should know better than to think I'd be the first to know something (re: my post, up a couple).

Convention and then Concorso

****, this is gonna be a lot of driving next summer.
Caravan to Seattle, back home and then back up to Monterey.

Gotta do what you gotta do.

Doing both in 1 trip would be a pretty cool summer, 30 days on the road. Alfas to Alfas.
