Hello,

I'm asking about the main differences between this models, obviously the Sprint Veloce's got Spica Fuel Injecction, different bumpers, and direction lights etc etc... But there are some differences in identification chassis number, mechanical or something?

I ask this because the next 25th July I'm going to race a Rallysprint with my Alfetta GTV 2000 L 1980, one of the last with metalic bumpers, but, I don't know which FIA homologation papers are the correct for this car... The first homogation as GTV 2.0 is from 1984 ... but the America (Sprint Veloce) is from 1976...

5581 1 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT 1779 01.01.1975 I 7
674 4 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT - 6 - 2.5 2492 01.01.1981 I 1
5855 1 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT - 6 - 2.5 2492 01.10.1981 I 1
5855 A Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT - 6 - 2.5 2492 01.10.1981 I Tr - FM
5647 1 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT 1.6 1567 01.03.1977 I 1
5647 A Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT 1.6 1567 01.03.1977 I 1 Tr
641 4 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT America 1970 01.04.1975 I FM
5622 1 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT America 1962 01.02.1976 I 12
5622 A Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT America 1962 01.02.1976 I 8 Tr
5077 N Alfa Romeo Alfetta GTV 2.0 1962 01.01.1984 I 5

Some one have the correcte homologation papers?

Thanks a lot, and sorry for my English (I'm from Spain).

Tommy.

Hi Tommy,

Aside from the SPICA and VIN (Vehicle Identification Number), the only other major difference is the addition of smog equipment (air pump, air injection rail, catalytic converter on California-market cars). Oh, and the gas tank is behind the back seat instead of in the floor, and (I think this is for air-conditioned cars only) the battery is under the trunk floor. But those are just US-market changes, as far as I know... 1975-77 cars were called Alfetta GT, and 1978-79 cars were sprint veloce, so it was just a name change.

I'm not sure what your list is... but I believe the VIN for my 1979 sprint veloce is something like AR116150006578. And I don't think we have anything like homologation papers here in the US, but someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Hello Tommy,

I just have the same question as you. Have you got your answer for which FIA homologation papers to use? I also have a 1980 GTV with metalic bumpers that I will use for rally in Belgium;). I have the same problem, I must order the FIA papers but I don't know which. I was thinking for the 5622 Alfa Romeo Alfetta GT America 1962 01.02.1976 I 12.
Thank for your help .
Best regards
Eric

Hi Eric,

The correct Homologation FIA Papers for your car is the 5622. I've got it for my 1980's Alfetta GTV 2000 L (the same model as you).

In 5622 there is an extension tab that contains the name change. The name changes from Alfetta GT America to Alfetta GTV 2000.

Best Regards!

Hello Tommy,
Thank you for the good news. I just find the first page from the homologation 5622 on the net and it was writen N°di serie AR 11629*0000000* and my car is A.R. 11636 so it was not clear anymore for me what to do. But with your answer, I now know I can order them. Do you have some picture of your rally car. My car is still undergoing restoration, I hope to be ready during march.
Best regards
Eric

The 11629 is a USA version (49 State) with Spica mechanical fuel injection and a catalytic converter. The 11636 is a Euro version with carbs. Both versions have 2.0l engines.

This is my little baby in my last Rallye (first overall in Regularity), I've got it since I was 14 years old, for me the best car in the world. At this moment "she"'s a Regularity Rallye Car, I've got an other race car for competition but for the moment I prefer racing in regularity.

Best regards.

Very nice car.
In 1988 my first car was a GTV 2,0l from 1978. It was dark blue. But I was in bad condition. Unfortunately I had no possibility to keep it, I was student. I always say once I will buy one again. Now I have two in my garage, one for pieces and the other to restore.
Good night

Eric
