Broadsided yesterday by an inattentive person backing out of her driveway. Her rear-right bumper met my '71 GTV drivers door
The damage is constrained to the door (I think)
Bacground is, the car needs paint, and to do it properly it needs metalwork for sure. There is almost no visible rust, but I have my suspicions about what may be lurking below.
So, here is my pickle. If I have an insurance adjuster give me an apparaisal of the damage, I may get a low payback. If I take the car to a shop that is registered with this insurer, they may be able to negotiate a better payout, but I may be stuck with a shop that isn't up to the standards that my will-never-sell car requires.
Does anyone have experience that they can share on this, so I can not just end up with a battered GTV with a shiny door.
BTW, does anyone know of the best source for whole door skins?
Thanks much!
