Not to keep beating the ignition horse, but it sounds like your bumping up aginst a rev limiter, and I know the bluetooth programable 123 in my 74 has a rev limiter. If it does have the rev limiter feature you might want to check the setting. No "reason" for it to have changed... but merde happens.

To share a non alfa story, years back I had a mid engine sand car with a buick 215 and a mallory ignition with Mallory tach. First time out in Dumont Dunes with the gang, lent the car to a friend to scare himself. He was doing fine, then came limping back. Car wouldn't rev past 1500 rpm. There was no shortage of motorhead expert friends around the car holding cans of beer, trying this and that. Finaly we all gave up and idled it back on the trailer. No sand car for me that weekend. The next week at work I had an idea and when I went home looked at the tach, which has a little knob to set the rev limiter, and sure enough it was turned down to 1200 rpm. Theory is that my friend while driving brushed the knob and that was all she wrote.

Moral is that there was no reason to suspect the rev limiter had been changed but it was. That's why I suggested to check it on the 123.

And cause we all like pictures, you all are motor heads, and that sand car was really neat, I have included a picture. Trailer tires instead of paddle tires on the car.

Nice toy!!

Regarding my thing, I would consider the limiter as no issue, as the revs climb ok after it passes that 2500 hiccup. It's only when on part throttlhe that it starts hicup'ing
