Hello [HUN]Gery83,
Thanks for posting. The Moto-Lita is mostly known as a British steering wheel but I've seen them on many different marques. I don't know too many details about them and nothing about your particular wheel but you may find something here:
Moto-Lita, the Classic British Steering Wheel

From BOBCOR Catalogue C. 1973

From BOBCOR Catalogue C. 1973.

These are Personal wheels. The Leather wheels were $66.90 and the wood wheels $52.95, irrespective of size.

Gianpiero Moretti 1944-2012

What a sad day for me today is. My hero Gianpiero Moretti has died after a long illness. :( I had so much respect for his driving skill and his profound insight as a businessman. His unique vision of what a steering wheel should be is still alive and well. I'm heartbroken that I was never able to meet him in person though I came so very close to doing so.

Attention steering wheel police: I'm told the wheel pictured below is a Hellebore out of a Lamborghini Miura and I've got a friend looking for one. I've never seen a Hellebore like this. Anyone else recognize it?
Thanks, Morrissey

4 Spoke, 5 Bolt, 14 in diameter Leather

Unknown 4 Spoke, 5 Bolt, 14 in dia. Leather. Has a 5 bolt hole pattern like the BWA but with different hole orientation. Stamped on back: MADE IN ITALY 3/80. Interesting shape to hub.

Just got it from Andrew in California. I had a look at the Shankle catalogues and it is not like their offerings.

Anyone know what this is?

Also anyone ever restore the leather where it is pulled away from the rim at the spoke as in last picture; or ideas????

Ciao

Hi Ken,

I had the same problem before! It´s not an easy task, but, the basic point is to reverse the process. With time and if not corrected hydrated leather shrink´s!!So to reverse the process i was told by a leather restorer that if you use a grease conditioner you won’t be able to glue it properly so, i was advised to use WATER to make the leather to go back to its place, and then glue it, and use the conditioner when the leather is already in place and the glue dried. I have not tried yet because is a kind of a slow process, not a quick step to do. But it sounds logical, i have literally watered some wheels before leather conditioner and the leather really goes smother, and a lot softer. I’m working in some "bad stored" wheels and i will let you know when i finish (if i got correct)

Meanwhile here a nice NOS IOTA that i grabbed in my latest Italy deal.

All the best :)

Paulo

Good advice from Paulo and if I were you Ken, I wouldn't do more than just getting to pads reglued in the correct position. The leather looks to be in pretty good condition. I think you should keep that nice patina as it is.
