I'll start! I used zip-ties to tighten up the lower half of the window regulator cable on my Alfetta GT after I replaced the old, worn and kinked one. I was too lazy to pull the regulator out again and make the cable shorter :p

I'll either do it up right one of these days or replace the zip-ties with a hose clamp. Don't hate me!

You're supposed to cut off the excess leaving a sharp point to slice knuckles. I think it's a law.
The Knuckle slice problem can be solved with a set of "Flush Cuts" a set of ***** with the bottom side of the cutter, cut square, so that the tag end remains flush with the captive end of the zip-tye. Snap-On truck carries them You can make your own by grinding the bottom side of a set of ***** so that each side of the cutting edge is on the same plane.

But where's the fun in that? 😁

I really want to know what a * * * * * is

I'm guessing dikes? But if you spell it with a y, that's a different word that runs afoul of the censors.

I redid the seats on my 77 spider. In order to get the wire that runs through them to tighten uniformly I used zip ties in place of the strings that had been used by the factory to pull the wire down. I did find it interesting that my seats were original and it appeared they had used something similar to a braided fishing line to pull the seat wires down to begin with so I don't feel bad using zip ties.

When we moved back to New Zealand I made a trolley to put the GTV shell on will all its parts underneath in plastic boxes and my tools. I used about a thousand zip ties to ensure they were firmly located on the trolley and would not move when in the shipping container ... and also to reduce the likelihood of being stolen by somebody.

The shipping people thought this was hilarious.

Btw, and I'm sure you know this, if you cut them in the right place when removing them you can reuse them for something shorter.

Great things
Pete

This may be the only case where smokers are more health conscious. Every smoker knows that you just pull out your Bic lighter and melt the sharp edges of the zip ties after snipping them off with the ****. 😁

But can't the slack be taken up by simply loosening the regulator and turning it cw or ccw and then tightening it again? Nah, that would be boring...:)

Nope! On my year ('79 Alfetta GT/Sprint Veloce) the regulator is riveted in, with no adjustment at all. You have to get the cable length just right and I didn't want to bother...

Well, there you go... I had a 115 GTV in mind, where you can adjust the slack by turning the regulator. In your case zip ties would be my quick fix too!(y)

WARNING: This may not be politically correct. But happened a long time ago.

I just came across this thried. The use of the word "Dikes" (as above) brings back
memories to me. When working in the electrics industry. If we were working with someone else and we needed a pair of dikes we would say, "hand me that short haired blond". The thinking was (at that time) that woman with short blond hair had, shall we say, "different thinking" in the choice of a life partner.

I know, I know. That's just the way it was in the old days............................:cautious:
