Just like the ad says. Looking for the chrome trim that goes on top of the front bumper. I only need the front section. The fender trim is fine. I posted this also in the parts section. Just in case some of you don't frequent that area.

I will see if I can source one from one of the many Alfa warehouses in Europe.
Right now it looks like they are N/A

thanks for your help.
Do you also need two small chrome trim strips that overlap that center piece and outer corner pieces?

Chelo,

Let me know how you make out. I have a more than decent center trim piece that I am replacing with a new one (in-hand). I am currently waiting on new clips. If everything goes according to plan I might be able to give it to you. New is better, of course, keep in touch with Jason.

I have new and very good used ss trim pieces that will look great right now but I am almost at the point of turning my LS into a Super L from the waist down. It is a big pain and big $ to deal with the trim.

Thanks guys. The sooner that I get it the better. What's happening is that I need the chrome just for alignment purpose. The body shop guys has aligned the bumper and pretty much needs the chrome to know exactly how much to pull the bumper support. It must be off about half an in" at the top section where the impact was.
I really would not mind driving the car without the chrome. I'll post some pics when i get home.
Oh by the way. I would only need the passenger side clip. Your turning your LS into an S?

Not for now, Chelo. If I ever need to replace lots of the SS trim I would probably go with L bits from the waist down. My LS is white w/silver cladding. I think the white/dark gray L look is understated in a nice way -- especially lowered, with Euro headlights and OZ Super Turismo wheels.

Just a thought, but is it possible to repair the plastic front chrome strip if you can't get a replacement? I know in Hemmings there are vendors that repair and rechrome even plastic.
Good luck!

I thought I'd give you guys an update. I found a new piece. It's going on the car for alignment purposes. The drawback is that it is not chrome. It looks more of a smoked chrome. Almost looks like a chrome piece with a tint on top of it. Which cars had this color?
I'm still looking for a chrome piece. Thanks

Are you sure it doesn't have protective manufacturer's tape on it?

I already took off the first one off. If there's a second on there. It certainly does not look like it. I tried peeling off from the edge. It was a no go. Although I was being extremely gentle. Let me post some pics.

These are not chrome -- they are polished stainless, I believe. Have you tried cleaning it up? What does it look like on the reverse side? I also have a new one and it is bright silver. Lastly, where did you get it?

If my memory serves me right, I believe Alfa, on the last few years of the 164 pruduction run, changed the chrome strip to an almost bronze / gold looking color. You may have a trim strip from one of the late, European models.

Good luck,

Really? For some reason I thought they were plated plastic. In any case, I recall trying to polish them up without success. The only solution was replacment.

Jeff is correct. This one has a bronze look to it. On the reverse is the plastic base. The stainless piece is right on top of that. It looks pretty cool but this one will have to do for the time being.
Difatta does not have the center piece in stock. They only have the fender trim. I believe this was the last NOS in the country. Unless someone has a bunch laying around that we don't know about.
I got this one from Alfa Parts in Berkeley fron Jon Norman. There just across the bridge from me. It was amazing to find this piece. Completely covered in 2 protective plastics and a bunch of dust on top of that. I also bought the fisheyes(sp). Small trim.
I Will take some pics of the progress of my car. It's finally painted and such be on the road by next week. Time to look for some wheels.

I found this photograph on the Alfaowner.com site over in the UK. It shows one of the late models with the bronze trim strips. I like the wheels and headlights better than the bronze trim strips, but still not a bad looking car.

Take care,
