Hi,

I've got an option on a couple of presses for my garage - one is a 6000kg and the other a 12000kg. The larger is a big unit versus the handy 6000kg model. So, will the smaller version handle the jobs I need it for on restoring my GTV - mostly pressing in suspension bushes, bearings and the like? What do you guys use? As usual I appreciate any insights.

If you use poly bushings you won't need a press to install the bushings. You will need an electric drill , chisels, and a hack saw to get the old ones ripped out. A few bits too. I'd go for the one ton with out seeing pics.

I do the vast majority with a bench vice, appropriately sized sockets &/or nuts & bolts.

The odd one that needs something bigger (eg trunnions) I beg/borrow a press at local workshop.

The smaller one should be fine.

You need better arithmetic. They are 6 ton and 12 ton respectively. The smaller one will do most anything you need. I'd spend the extra $$ on a bearing splitter and other bits.
