As a new 1978 Spider owner I'm working my way through the various issues, and have arrived at the wipers. Just spoke with Centerline who told me the replacement switches have been on order for a year and a day, so not sure if I should ever plan on getting the right switch to replace my broken one. Can anyone help me out by explaining how the switch works, and what connections need to be made to operate the wipers in both speeds? Also, the foot operated washer pump works to pump water, but it seems the electrical part of the unit is bad. Testing with a meter, no contact is being made regardless of what terminals I try and whether I slightly press or fully press the pump button. Again, if anyone can shed light on how this is supposed to operate I'd be grateful. Lastly, are the wipers supposed to self park? Any information on how this is supposed to work is welcome too. Thank you.

I feel your pain. Yes, they're supposed to park. Have you pulled the switch and checked all the connections? There are like 8 posts on the back of the switch, and every one of them has at least one wire attached. Do you have the wiring diagram for your '78?

Thanks Radojko. It seems like both the center console switch and the foot pump switch are bad, but since the console switch is currently unavailable I'm trying to figure out if there's a way I can create a work around until is becomes available. I don't have a wiring diagram, other than the one in the owners' manual (the one where your eyes go crazy trying to follow the lines, and the printing is so fuzzy you can't read what color the wires are!). If anyone can share a better wiring diagram I'd be grateful. Thanks.
