So I'm resto-modding my '74 GTV, and I wanted to replace the OEM switch for the wipers and the foot-activated wash setup with two standard toggles.

Attached is the wiring diagram I figured out this weekend. Some of it has been posted before in other places, but I built it and it works nicely, including parking properly.

Hopefully this helps others, as it allows you to replace the $$$ OEM switch with a toggle from anywhere (I chose a heavy duty one from DelCity).

Cheers
Simon

I rewired a GTV much like you illustrate but I included a delay-off timer so that the wipers continue work for a few seconds after the washer pump stops. Built the timer using a "555" transistor. Got the circuit design off the Internet.

Where do you plan on mounting the toggle switches?

Ooh, that's a good idea! Can you post the diagram or link?
I'm reworking the center console, so I was planning to ditch the cigarette lighter and put all the switches there in a row, along with the fog lights, hazard switch, and rear defroster...
