what is good on the allummium in the engine? mine is kind of funky looking.

I also need to clean the interior. it is really funky. the dash and stuff, armorall like thing? leather seats are a little beat up, a friend said first dishwashing detergent, and then conditioner...that sounds weird to me...but who knows. so I thought I would ask.....

Use the dishwashing detergent on the motor, not the seats !!!!

It may take more than one application....
I would start with just a damp sponge, dry and then try the leather cleaner.

Saddle Soap on the seats. It will clean, soften and condition the leather.
Get the tin that looks like the old style shoe polish, found at your local feed store...

great, that is exactly what I wound up buying, and it seems to work pretty good, car is looking better all the time...
