My 1976 Nuova has the Berlina 2000 intake manifold ... apparently starting phase out by then. Therefore it has the bypass hose from intake manifold to water pump. The depth to block off the bypass opening once warm is 32 mm from thermostat flange surface. Therefore when cold the depth of the main flange to blocking off must be less than 32 mm. Gates web site list the thermostat as 33000, but that is not a bypass thermostat, so it is not right. I tried calling it an Alfetta and then it said 33208, which is a bypass, but I have one of those and the depth of the cold thermostat is 32 mm, so the bypass hose will always be shut off which would be wrong. Has anybody figured out the correct Gates or Stat number for these cars?
