Hi Folks,
I'm a newbie and I have recently bought an engine and some bits from a guy having a garage clearout. He did not have any info. on the engine, other than he thought it was a 1750. The engine no. is AR00548 31589 and came equipped with twin 40dcoe32 Webers. The oil filter is the older paper element type(not spin-off).
Can anyone tell me from what model this motor came and it's date?
The engine is missing a starter motor and any information as to starter type (correct no. of teeth etc.) would also be of great help.
Thanks DavyP:confused:

Welcome, Davy.

Engine type AR00548 is a European version 1750. It was originally fitted with Weber 40 DCOE 32 carbs and saw service in all three 1750 models; Berlina, GTV and Spider. The sequential serial number, 31589, would, off the top of my head, place it as a late 1968-69 manufacture. There is no way to determine which model 1750 the engine came from.

About once a week I point people to the excellent posting that George Willet added to the BB on 03-30-2007 located at: http://www.alfabb.com/bb/forums/gt-1965-1974/39666-starters-ring-gears.html

His entry for 1750's reads: "69/71 1779 110 8 001-211-016 .7hp- three bolt mounting", which suggests that you need starter p/n 001-211-016 with an 8 tooth pinion, that mounts with 3 bolts.
