Any recommendations for wheel bearing grease? A vendor I spoke with recently says he uses Mobil 1 Synthetic grease, which is not specifically for wheel bearings. (I use it for pretty much everything else, though.) I also have the old-school super stiff almost thread-like wheel bearing grease, definitely not synthetic. Any thoughts?

Mobil 1 synthetic is rated for wheel bearings, you can check the product sheet. I'm sure that'll work, or I just generally buy whatever wheel bearing grease they carry at the local auto parts store.

Ah, so I see. Thanks for enlightening me. I'll use Mobil 1 since I have it and it's more user-friendly than the old-school stuff.

Yeah, what you want to look for on the label is the NLGI GC rating, which means it's applicable for wheel bearings. I'm pretty sure that all GC-rated greases are red to indicate such, which is why the Mobil 1 is red.
