From an s4 motronic spider. Engine was given to me in a box to assemble. Cant work out where it goes. Also how do you move the inlet cam orientation to line up the chain. Its not a vernier type like the exhaust.

I think that’s the actuator pin for the VVT solenoid. It sticks out at the front right of the cam cover.

Lol. Ok. That was fast. So it would push the pin in the front of the inlet cam actuator. I'm guessing it fits in the valve cover somewhere then. I'll take a look. Cheers

this goes inside the valve cover. There is a very tiny oil oring that seals the shaft that you can get to from the outside when you remove the plate. The VVT pushes on this plunger. The plunger acuates a pin on the cam to open an oil channel to advance the cam.
