I' m going to rebuild the calipers in my '83 and read that seriees 115 caliper pistons need to be aligned with rotor, does this apply to a '83 spider? I believe mine is a series 3, but not certain.

The front brakes are the same on 1750 and 2000 from 1971 through the end of the Spiders in 1994, so yes, the alignment tool for the cutout in the brake piston applies to your car.

You can make one out of card board. I think I got the diagram for the tool somewhere on the BB, but I can't remember where and can't locate it on my computer. Here are some photos and yes your brakes are the same as other series 3 spiders.
