What sort of replacment bushes have you used.

Hi

I'm looking to replace the suspension bushes on my Alfetta GT with Superpro bushes. Has any one used them and can they give me their opinion on whether they are any good, or whether they are too hard or too soft?

Have you used something else that you can recommend?

Thanks

I've got a superpro De dion bush in one of my alfettas, nothing bad to say about it - seems well made, stiffened the rear up a bit, and was cheap ;)
Thanks for you comments Festy.

I ended up buying the Superpro bushes as well, since they have the most coprehensive range for Alfetta's and they were sold at the local auto parts shop.

The one bush Superpro don't list though is the 2 bushes on the rear sway bar. Not the ones that mount the sway bar to the chasis but the ones that connect the sway bar to the two links that are connected to the De Dion Suspension. They probably will have something that matches. If anyone knows what other make of car has similiar bushes I'd love to know. It will save me hours of going through heaps of bushes.

Fest the rear De Dion bush you had installed do you know which way it is suppose to go in as one side is different to the other or will it be obvious when I pulll my suspension out?

convenient to get.

I remember trying to get those from them a few years ago with no luck, so am interested to hear how you go.

I don't remember exactly, I put mine in probaby 4 years ago.
I do remember that the one I was replacing was installed upside down by a PO (as was the aluminium washer thing that sits on top) and it was fairly obvious to me at the time that it was wrong.
I put the Mackay/Superpro poly De-Dion in my 75 about a year ago. I can't remember excatly but I think I left the aluminium washer out because there was no room. Might have added something else though if there was some clearance, can't remember. There's a lip at one end of the hole the bush goes in which sits in a groove in the bush. It helps if you can get it all in a vice, still a hard job but much easier.

using superpro/nolothane or any synthetic bushings on early alfettas 75 33 etc will eventually cause stress cracks around the suspension mounting points to the body especially if konis are installed .
anyone who knows 33's will tell you of the dire consequences when upgrading the bushes and shocks.
it is well documented on the cracking of the chassis.
75,s and gtv are known to fail where the lower suspension arm connects to the chassis

the reason the original bushses are rubber is to absorb and allow some impact absorption.

my opinion is to replace with original bushes where possible.
