I found this foam rubber thing in my trunk. Been there for about a year now. For the life of me can figure out where it belongs. There are inlays on the back where it lays on something....import

I think it just sits on top of the fuel sender to cover it up from debris.

The lengthwise slot is for the fuel line.

well yes, in a way.....but its there to protect you in case you threw something heavy into the trunk, thereby cracking the fuel line (which you wouldn't really notice because the carpet is there) and then driving off as your trunk slowly fills with combustible gasoline....!

so kinda useful
