I usually keep up on the value of my cars, and I've noticed a definite jump in GTV6 values... Which makes me wonder what mine is worth. I'm not so sure that I want to sell it, but I'm just curious.

Unfortunately, I don't have any recent pics, but here's the scoop:

1985 GTV6
Metallic black with the cloth pin-striped interior
very very very little rust.
Paint is in OK condition, but definitely not what I would call good
There is one baseball-sized dent in the nose panel (it's from the PO and I've never gotten around to fixing it)
interior is in... not great shape, I mean everything is there, but it's quite faded and the dash is cracked. And it burns and leaks a decent amount of oil. The engine really just needs to be gone through thoroughly and have the EFI dyno tuned...

But here's the good parts:
Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 15" wheels (matte black)
Yokohama S.Drive 205/55/15 tires with most of the tread still there
Poly upper and lower front control arm bushings
New ball joints
115/Spider caster rod modification
RS Racing front sway bar with poly bushings and heim-jointed drop links with the Performatek braces
Poly De Dion bushing
Shankle rear sway bar with poly bushings and drop links
RS complete coil-over suspention
RS Adjustable watts-link
Fairly new CV axles
Fairly new guibos
Milano platinum LSD transaxle (2nd crunches a bit though)
Shankle heel and toe kit
Go-Tech EFI
New engine harness to accommodate the Go-Tech
Go-Tech allowed for use of a MAF and deleted the barn-door AFM
Glenwood stage 1 cams/headwork/headers
Magnecor plug wires
MSD blaster 2 coil
Ferodo DS2500 pads all around
Cross-drilled rear rotors
2.25" exhaust w/ magnaflow muffler
Momo steering wheel
OMP steering wheel extender
Sparco Evo2 driver's seat

I think that's about it... but I know I'll remember something as soon as I post this...

Like I said, I'm not so sure I'm really looking to sell it, I'm just curious what it might be worth.

I'd say it's probably worth what someone is willing to pay :D Actually - I bet it is worth EXACTLY what someone is willing to pay!

It sounds like a well intentioned build which needs some bandaids - and they might not be inexpensive with engine burning and leaking oil (if head work, were valve seals not done or done correctly?). It sounds like a race car candidate rather than one to be re-freshened for the street.

Also - where are you using poly on the lower control arm bushings? I wasn't aware that those were even available.

you know, now that you mention it, I kind of remember not having trouble finding them. I know I have the poly torsion bar mount bushings from performatek, but I can't remember for sure whether or not I found poly lower control arm bushings. So, they're either new stock units, or they're poly (if I was able to find them). I honestly can't remember.

5-8K? That's Krazy man. It would have to be in MUCH better shape without mechanical issues for that. Just not realistic.

There is no jump in GTV6 prices. You may get 2K.

Just do the math, to fix yours would be at least $5K and it could be worth 5K. Generally the mods reduce value.

Value…. willing buyer - willing seller

Sounds like you have an excellent build to me. I would:

Keep it;

Top it off with small amounts of motor oil as necessary;

Track it - no where safer than on the track speeding around with fellow marquee enthusiasts;

Maintain it; and (motor rebuild will further bond you and gtv)

Enjoy it.

It will be worth more later due to the history you add.

Load some photos - would like to see it on the screen.

I may have been a little harsh. But the others are right in that don't think about the value, just enjoy it. That's the real value of them.

Well here's how I come to my educated value of the GTV6. I look at those parts on it, Easily sell them individually on ebay for over $4k, As new parts someone has over $6k into that thing. the car is worth something too. A picture is worth a thousand dollars. I took my GTV6 and sold everything and made over $3500 in parts alone in about a month, and that was a stock car. I kept the tranny, engine, suspension, wheels and the hood. The peeps from Isreal and Italy and some aussies seem to NEED these parts desperately. So there is a high value in these cars for the parts but its just like everything else, people want to try to give you scrap metal price for the entire car so they can make all the dough. You don't just find these cars in back yards or on the corner for sale anymore.

Jeff your absolutely right, but were all trying to hep and do our part to change the under rated value of these alfas. Seems that in America most of fall under the monkey see, monkey do category. If i whispered into your ear that under no circumstances do you ever pay more than 2k for a GTV6 no matter the condition, then you pass it on and so forth then it seems we all just killed a car that was destine to be a true collector one day. We all want to buy low, but it seems to be hurting us all in the Milano and GTV6 world.

The best way to get attention to the marque is to get nice examples out there and right now there are precious few. Alfetta's were poorly presented by Alfa in almost all marketplaces. They rusted and had poor resale value. People didn't drool over them when new.

Value is based on demand. If Alfa does actually make it to the US it is possible that older examples may be viewed in a better light but hey will have to be good ones.

Stating a car is worth 8K won't make it so. Unfortunately.

Balocco211, Spot on, I agree.

Krazyman, you got it in "monkey see, Monkey do". So many potential GTV6isti, are programed to think GTV6's aren't worth anything. Anyone who puts forth the opinion that they aren't of value, has NEVER DRIVEN ONE, properly.
When I wind up a twisty mountain road in my 'beater' GTV6, I can't imagine anyone thinking this level of thrill in an Italian Sports Car could be worth less than $10K

Glen? My point precisely, the value is in the driving and owning a low volume car of character; financial 'value' is negative. A decent respray, suspension bushing refresh plus a service, and you are into more than you can realistically expect to sell for (that is assuming you don't have to replace the seats and synchro's).

Selling a car for 8k is great unless you have sunk 10K into it. Krazymann is correct, the sum of the parts is worth more than the whole.

Almost all cars are a losing deal unless you can buy and hold good examples and catch the bubble. And there's always a bubble.

I have sold GTV6's for over $10K, up to $12.5K, but those where extremely clean, low miles cars. At $8K, you should expect a good driver that is very presentable. Anyone who has an idea of making money on one should be prepared to do all the work themselves and spend a lot of time sourcing used, quality parts. Though I don't always make money on my cars, I usually make 10-15%, which I am only able to because I have so many parts cars and have collected parts for many years, and I do ALL the work myself.

Crackerships car has had a LOT of great stuff done, It would make a wonderful track car or, with some rings, seals and gaskets, and a decent paint job, should be worth $12K, in my considered opinion.

Wow. No photos and no mileage statement?... And you wanna know what we think it's worth?

Sorry man, listing aftermarket parts isn't enough. That's like when you go on your first blind date and your sister tells you that she's got a "good personality". The materialization of this Aphrodite never quite meets expectation.

Shake off the dillusion. Think of it more like owning a boat. You sink a lot of money into it just to have the priviledge to drive it, you have your fun while you own it, and eventually you have to sell it at a huge loss. -Minus the price you put on your memories. That's just how it is. You'll feel better the sooner you accept that, and get over it.

I'm more interested in knowing what is being referred to as a "jump" in GTV6 values. From my POV, there won't be a "jump" until concours cars (non-callaway) top 20K and rust free drivers routinely top 8 grand. This way, driveable beaters can fetch 2-4K and still be lightly restored without being utterly and completely underwater. And we are a long way from that.
I still see immaculate cars being sold for under 10K, which is great for buyers, but it really breaks my heart sometimes to see such well cared for cars sold for so little.
