We recently dropped the rear end to replace the chewed up ring and pinion. It appears something went wrong on re-assembly because the springs are walking. The picture shows the result of about 4 laps. What keeps the rear springs in place?

Spring retaining

You need limiting cables of the correct length to prevent the axle from dropping past the point where the spring is still under some tension.

Why is there a sway bar on the rear?

Hi RJ
It sounds like a cop out, but that's the way the car came, and I don't know enough to mess with it. It handles well that way. I'm still learning, but Eric W was fast in it. It never had limit strap as far as I can tell and the springs stayed in place for years so I figured I screwed up.
