WMARO, Inc. is a Chartered Chapter of National AROC-USA since 1986, founded in West Michigan (Grand Rapids) by myself John gtv_john Groth and several friend AROC members: Gerry Albers, Scott & Terry Shad, and Randy Ball.

We formed our own chapter after most being members of the Detroit Chapter, myself vice-president, for a few years. The 6 hr drive there und back did not help already cramped-up young family schedules, and then we felt that we lost cognitive and spiritual touch with our Detroit brethren, and sought refuge and Alfa enthusiasts’ solace in our own style, our casual tenants and un-club-like mantra. So it was and has been since.

Our fresh new Chapter originated the now popular, non-competitive 'Driver's Day' events, where car potential and Driver's ability are paired into 4-5 like groups to match speed in general sense, no racing, but pass where indicated, maximizing track time of 4 to five 20 min driving times per day. We also instituted the 'Touring Sessions' at lunch for cars with enthusiasts passengers & families can parade behind a pace car, no passing, and experience track first hand in a safe and mostly controlled manner.

We did this at Grattan Raceway every Memorial Day Monday for some 20 years straight. Whew it was hard work, but a good time, and we did a really great job at it for all those satisfied drivers that drove hard for fun!

So our group has a casual, friendly and relaxed approach to Alfa enthusiasm, and all things Italian, cars, mangiare and life.
Please join or just hang out and share our non-club, un-political group to enjoy all things Italiano and Alfa Romeo?

Don't know why I didn't see this post before? Nice to know there are some other Alfa nuts here in GR! I'm on my second Alfa Spider, first one died of rust. I'm in Caledonia. You all have a place you meet? Any chance of a nice big garage or barn where you can work on Alfas? Contemplating a transmission rebuild, but the only place I could do it is over in Douglas at Tower Marine in their boat storage (keep my C30 docked there). I don't have the room in my garage. Don't want to do it in the yard. Plus I've never attempted something this big before. Even moral support (or a few beers) would help.

Jeff
