Ciao tutti,

I found an odd water leakage problem on my 82 Spider Veloce.
After a rainy day, the floor mats on the driver as well as
the passenger side got wet.

Does anyone know how the water leaks inside and if there is a way to
fix that?

Grazie,
Christopher

Assuming it's not coming in around the top, do a search for cowl drain tubes - you'll find many threads.

Just finished chasing source of a horrendous leak....ended up being the meeting of the door glass/car top, at bottom corner. Look for recent thread on it.....maybe 2 months ago.......(I started that thread).

Hmmm, maybe I can find it and post link..........

Joe,

Thank you.
Searching the forums for cowl drain tubes, I came across your thread.
So, you actually found the crack to be the reason for the leak?

It seems that the water is leaking inside from the firewall side in my case.
Probably the drain tubes, I would think.

Will look into your thread once again.

You might want to clean out the ones in the gutter under the back window inside the car too. Mine were almost completely cloged.

Could have kept gold fish back there.

Hahahaha...

Thanks for the advice, John.

Will take a look at that as well.

Ciao,
Christopher

PS I am glad, they all do that ;-) Makes you feel not so alone with your problems.

I've found the best way to avoid leaks is to keep it in the garage. I'd bet on the front cowl tubes as the main culprit. Check carefully, the problem tends to be right at the firewall.

Water leakage

Do be careful with the rear drain tubes. In my car they are just long enough. It's probably a good idea to take the screws out and pull back the rear carpet drape to check your tubes directly, don't just ram something down the drain holes.

John,

Thank you for the notes.

Hopefully I can get started and take a closer look on the weekend.
