It was like old home week seeing Tom at Joe's get together last year, complete with his car transporter and cars. To say Tom can be a character is an understatement, but he and I have a special connection, which is not understood by those that don't know why. We're both very affectionate, even in a public gathering, and people tend to stare. I don't think I've been stared at quite like that since the last Chicago convention, when Tom Tann, and I were caught in a similar hug in the hotel parking lot, after not having seen each other for some 15-20 years. We used to have a small autocross sponsorship from Tom through his "Alfa Heaven" business. This was discontinued some time ago, but he surfaced at the 2014 Detroit AROC convention. He was the same old Tom, never at a loss for words - or a good story...
...A footnote -- Tom has the one "one-off" Alfa 164 wagon that I'd love to have, if I could figure out how to get it into my "smog" conscious state.
That's the car...I wasn't aware of the name that Tom referred to it as. In Pat's circle of original Alfisti it was simply referred to as the "One-off 164 Wagon." A designation with a true "double-meaning."Cheryl, My memory is that Tom cut the upper body off of a Ford Taurus station wagon, and called the resulting 164 the "Tasteful Taurus"
