And that's a TZ there on the left. The Mustang seems out of place, unless it was being used by the Shelby team?
I'd like to know the story; why they're sitting on the ground, the kids close in, etc.

49th Targa Florio

In the early months of 1965, Alfa was still waiting the FIA homologation for the GTA. However, as racing experience was precious to determine further evolution of the model, Chiti has tested the car in few occasions. For 49th Targa Florio on 09. May 1965 he inscribed one car among Prototypes just to measure its behavior on the track, conscious that the rivalry was out of reach (Ferrari Dino, just to mention one). For the occasion, he chose Count Alessandro Federico, nice gentleman and experienced driver at Piccolo circuito delle Madonie, and Mario Araujo Cabral, Portuguese also experienced in Madonie circuit. The car was the first version of GTA without dynamic roll center (sliding block), and air-box, and Chiti’s idea was to measure GTA’s going among other Tourist class cars. Indeed, the GTA was doing well until the accident that caused the abandon of the race in 4th (officially 5th) lap, fortunately without any harm to the driver (Cmt Federico). That was one of the early appearances of the GTA in competition, though in different class. The desired homologation papers arrived just a month later. Curiously, the same driver, Count Alessandro Federico (together with Giancarlo Barba) presented another debutant Alfa Romeo GTA car in 1967, in occasion of 51th Targa Florio race. This time it was GTA SA (supercharged version of GTA), with N°214, that missed to enter the race because of overheating problems.
