Last time I did this with a slippery and frankly dangerous PVC adapter. I'm a little bit older and very slightly wiser this time and read past threads on the right way to compress nord twin cam valves. Old threads have a lot of dead links but I think I see several positive referrals to kits like this with reviews that they needed no modification and allowed good access to the retainer. Anyone care to chime in ?

The ebay part I linked to is not beautiful (lots of rough edges) but it came in a few days time and does its job A-okay. So far I've used it for removal, which took all of ten minutes for 8 valves. Will be installing today if all goes to plan.
