It's time for the seats in the Alfetta to be redone.

Certainly there are some options here. Some have purchased premade upholstery kits from Centerline, IAP, World Upholstery, etc. and either installed it themselves, or had it professionally installed. However from other posts on this bb, it seems a third option of many has been to have the upholsterer work from scratch for about the same price or less. In 1981 when the GTV's seats were redone from scratch in Florida, the cost was somewhere around $350. Figuring for inflation, that's maybe $900 today? Today, seems like many have faired for about this much or less for a set of full custom reupholstered seats. Sound about right? We are speaking of vinyl with period correct look but not necessarily the exact OEM materials etc. This is for (hopefully) a daily driver.

Anyway to cut to the chase, has anyone dealt with, or care to suggest, an upholsterer in or nearby NEO. Any other ideas would be appreciated as well (always game for a good suggestion, especially one that has netted known good results). Anyone reupholstered their seats lately?

Thanks.

Dragline,
I had Duramend do my Spider's door panels and seats in leather for less than $800. Caveat was that the leather they used was in stock, but they can get just about any kind of material you want.

Quality, Time, and Cost, choose two of three. Isn't that how the expression goes? The original post didn't really speak of quality but to me, that goes without saying. Good-looking, durable, quality work is a must.

Sounds like a very good price Todd, especially in leather. Were you happy with the result (ie. How was the quality and time aspects?)? Would you go back to them? Had you looked at anyone else before you chose them? Do you have any pixs handy that you would care to share?

Oh yes, and how long ago was your seats done?

Thanks.

Todd,

I did some more digging and found answers to my questions about Duramend in a couple of your posts:

Here and here 1990 Graduate Interior Project

Thanks for sharing the details. Very nice work!

FYI to anyone
looking for reupholsterers in NE Ohio, I'm also considering a premade kit from World Upholstery & Trim with the installation performed by a local professional outfit. World's website lists Ace Auto Top & Trim as a recommended(?) installer but they seems to be out of business as their phone is disconnected.
World also list Doctor Dennis Upholstery & Repair and Mickey's Auto Top & Upholstery in this area. Anyone have any dealings with either of these two outfits that they would care to share.

Thanks.

upholstery

There is a place on 2 in Perry, I think it's called Sherman's or Stevens something like that. I had him put the headliner in my 2002. They are out near Gillson's nursery on the north side of the road.
He did a good job and was excited to work on something different.
