Hello Members,
This is my first post here.

So.. Recently got a 155 2.0 8 valve car. The car is in ok shape, no mechanical problems, a bit used but it is ok with the age it has.

The large ignition coil (red color) has been disconnected by the previous owner and the car runs only on 4 spark plugs the - secondary set and the black colored ignition coil..
We changed the secondary spark plugs and now the car starts but has very rough idle.. cylinder 1 is not firing. Checked the cables and did spark test, so the #1 spark plug (closest to the pulleys) throws sparks and has no problems, yet cylinders #2 #3 #4 work property but #1 does not.

Then we swapped the ignition coils and the same thing happens (maybe the ign. coils are gone?)

A friend suggested that I have some how mixed the firing order (1-3-4-2), and tried the switching of cables in that order #1cyl-#1cable, #2cyl-#3cable etc.. but the engine wont start..

On the ignition coil there are numbers numbered 1-4. These numbers correspond to cylinder numbers or firing order?

Welcome Martin,

Numbers at coils correspond with cylinder numbers, not with firing order. Engine doesn't run very well with one coil, but should be about the same at all revs.

Have you checked injector #1 ?
