Transaxle to fit directly to Alfa 2000 engine?

Sold my Marcos and having exotic car withdrawal symptoms.

Found a great looking Abarth 2000 body made right here in the U.S.

Have a spare Alfa 2000 engine to use.
But need to figure out a better longitudinal transaxle than VW.

Preferably fairly light, ability to change ratios would be great.
Needs to not be blank check expensive.

Suggestions?

I was hoping for GTV or Sud to keep it more Italian.
Hewlands are now crazy priced and not really streetable anyway.

Long term project so not a rush to figure it out.

Currently trying to get the engine running.

Abarth pic?

Fiberglass replica bodies are available.
Found on a Locost USA thread.

I would want a short windshield for a cleaner look.
