My throw out bearing is whining on my 85 Graduate for the first clutch use of the day. Only whines the first use, OK, sometimes the second if I back out then start forward again. But after that it seems to warm up and there is no more noise until the next day after sitting over night. Is there any cure besides replacing the bearing?

Not really. Everything's pretty inaccessible in that area without removing the trans or the engine. I'd monitor and see how it progresses. Sometimes a dry pilot bushing gives this kind of symptom too, though usually as you start to release the clutch, not when it's first pushed in.
